Hello. Just want to say thank you for this. I've fallen out of practice for years and I am finding these kinds of insttuctionals to help me back.

yeah, this really does help. (and yes, I really am replying to a thread with 6 year old comments). I kind of understood when this arrived what to do with it, but it's helpful to be reminded to use the metronome with these, as that's part of the extra "stress" I need as a beginner so that I can play cleanly without just wildly flailing time-wise.

Vocês vencerão as dificuldades.

Hi Lora. As I am hearing impaired (you have helped me with this previously) I cannot hear a metronome above the sound of the violin. I do tend to speed up. Have you any ideas about timing without a metronome other that of going through a piece of music without actually playing it, just to get it in the head so to speak. I did hear of a bounce metronome but believe this only available on line or a phone. I thought these exercise will help placing fingers correctly - vital when you don't hear sharps and flats.

How do you work things like this into lessons? Warm up time? Actually part of the lesson? What proportions? Five minutes for this then onward? Ten minutes?

Espero sea pronto. Saludos!

Hi Lora, Thank you very much for your lessons, they are one of the best here and I learned a lot from you. However I have a comment to statement "exercise #1 is played strictly on A string, exercise #2 strictly on D string, e.t.c.." In my copy (which is not historical scan but a new edition) there is written something like "do the same on D string, G string and E string" at the end of the exercise. So I suppose the exercise should be played on all strings. Or am I wrong?

Lora: Thanks for that explanation. That´s a very usefull lesson. If you cannot play at that speed, don´t waste your time. Just dedicate to other thing. By the way, if you have to choose the best book for learning violin from the beggining, would Sevcik be on the first place?
