That wasn’t a home run for the Mets. That wasn’t a home run for New York. That was a home run for America.

I'm a huge Braves fan. I've loved them for years and will always root for them to win. This is one game that I'm glad they lost.

This always brings a tear to my eye, Rose's call, and the strong NY fans finally burst with excitement and hope after the tragedy of 9/11. I'm so happy that this moment along with many others will be officially immortalized with Piazza's HoF induction. It's moments like these that make me think Baseball really is the greatest game of all time.

This came an inning after Liza Minnelli did her greatest rendition ever of "New York, New York" during the 7th inning stretch. That really got the emotion going through the crowd and Piazza's homer after the Braves had gone ahead in the top of the 8th made the moment perfect.

Even as a Braves fan, this moment was for the United States of America. We will never forget, 20 years later.

I remember watching this as 17 year old kid live on tv and my dad and older brother jumping around in happiness. Neither are alive anymore but this homerun has kept that memory alive in my brain forever. Great moment for baseball.

A home run that the country needed the most. I’m a Yankee fan, but this was my favorite MLB moment after 9/11. It made us all United as one, and we all had tons of respect to our country, our flag, and much more. I’m hoping to see more unity today. And even if you’re a braves fan or a Phillies fan, you have to admit that this was phenomenal. I’m sure braves fans were like, “today, this is the only game we wanna lose. This isn’t just for New York, but it’s for our country. 🇺🇸

I remember when this happened, my dad lifted me onto his shoulders and ran around the house cheering and crying, he didn't know anyone in the towers, but he still felt like he lost his family, he loved New York that much.

And I remember, we had a whole party at our house that day, Yankees and Mets fans alike, family and friends, when Mike hit that home run, everyone stood up and cheered.

As a New yorker, this day is different from every other day. Its different for NYers than anybody else. The scariest day. The most heartbreaking day. I can't believe its been 20 years. And I can't believe where the world is at. Not where i thought we'd be 2 decades later. As a mets fan, this moment stands out by far more than any other since 1986.
