"I need to listen to more King's X." Wisest thing ever said.

King's X has been my favorite band since 1989. Any and all KX is great stuff with song from "Gretchen Goes to Nebraska" and "Faith, Hope, Love" being the cream of the crop. Keep listening to more great music, Jim!
Peace...

This song played live is an out of body experience. I've had the pleasure of witnessing it myself four times in the early 90s. Sadly, it's not in their set lists as of late, Doug proclaims they're too old to play it. Still, a great show. The tightest band in history.

This was released in 1990 on the Faith Hope Love album. One of the best they ever released.

And it's pronounced as "X" just like you'd pronounce the letter.

You should listen to everything this band has ever released. They're on the top ten list of almost every major musician out there. Unfortunately they never got huge commercial success, but everything they've done is brilliant.

This Faith, Hope, Love record remains one of my all time favorites. King's X is an acquired taste and their fan base is largely musicians and fans of deep cut rock. Great guy to meet and hang with, down to earth guys. They currently are in studio finishing up a new record and are touring still as well. One of those bands you have to see live and one of those bands where the crowd sings every lyric. Loved seeing this and it reminded me of how many times I would attempt this on guitar. This live was mind blowing the singer would often destroy the bass at the end of it...

Man, King's X hit their prime well before I knew what proper music was, but I fortunately got turned onto them when I was in high school. Such pure and great rock 'n' roll from these guys. I won't even try to make a specific song recommendation, but my personal favorites were off of Dogman (I dug the heavier tone and vibe from that album). I always thought this track was an anomaly because it's unusual for Ty to go on a prolonged long face melting guitar solo like he does here. Ty, for me, always wrote the most tasty solos that fit songs perfectly without over embellishing. (Everybody knows a little bit, Flies and Blue Skies, Black the Sky, etc.)

"King's-EX" is how they say their name.

Awesome reaction to an awesome tune! The energy is off the charts! And the Deep Purple and Motorhead comparisons are good ones!

This tune came out in 1990 off their Faith Hope Love album, and so you're spot-on on the timing/production.

Yes the whole reason to listen to this song is to get to Ty's air raid thing.

What's also great about this song... It's pretty much the best heavy metal WORSHIP song ever! And I don't mean worship of metal 😉

Kings X is the greatest band to have ever graced the planet with their presence. Summerland, mission, out of the silent planet, mississippi moon, over the ocean, lost in Germany

Sweet. King's X ... saw them in the late 90s 3 times in 3 years. Always a lot of fun live. Easily 3 of my top 10 live shows i've seen in my life. Once we stood near the tourbus after the show and doug came to us asking for a lighter. the others came as well. talked to them for 10-15mins...such lovely guys. :D

Really enjoyed that. When they played this live on the Faith, Hope, Love" tour Ty brought out an orange Hamer with a big "X" on the body and melted the guitar. What a track and fond memories of the gig at Glasgow's Mayfair back in '88.

King's X (king's EX) Reaction.... immediate like and watch! 25, 30 years later, i'm still rotating this through my playlist. Such big sound from just 3 guys and they deliver this just as well live. They're still rockin....saw them last year in Austin. This song live is always amazing when Ty goes off and Jerry is a freakin metrinome and Dug's just playin with the crowd the whole time. All 3 members sing while they're doing amazing things on their instruments... Good stuff! Glad you enjoyed it so much. if you want more, definitely go explore those first 4 albums. Influences of Beatles, Jimi, Deep Purple.... so good.

The phrasing throughout this song is FIRE. Honestly, I put this in my personal Top 20 favorite guitar solos of all time. Seriously. Everything is 100% on-point. And Ty's TONE. Jebus.

Also, for everyone: if you aren't digging into the King's X catalog, you are doing yourself an immense disservice. They've influenced so many other bands. I've seen them live around 20 times, and after having seen literally hundreds of bands, they're probably also in my favorite 10 shows of all time. Simply amazing.

Your next King's X tune should be "Everybody Knows a Little Bit of Something".
