I know you like to do some freezer meal prep for days life just gets busy. You could make up some stuffed Cabbage rolls for freezer meals.

OMG I love sauerkraut. My grandmother (full German) use to make it but I thought it was a very involved process so never thought to make it. I had no idea it was that easy to make! Our cabbage heads are not very compact like yours so they are eaten quickly out of the garden. Now I will try this method so we can enjoy our cabbage for an extended period of time. GREAT 🌟

Greenhouse looks great ! I can’t believe how beautiful your garden is and so much to harvest . You should be very proud of all the work you and Aaron and the family have done! I bought cabbage at a Mennonite farm two days ago and it sure didn’t look like that ! I love to put cabbage rolls in the freezer . Thank you ! 🥬🫙🥬

You are not the only one with loose or small heads. I am in Southern California and consider myself beyond lucky to get ANY cabbage from my spring crop. I have a couple small heads and a couple other loose heads. Yours look great. Isn't it amazing what a great feeling it is to produce your own no matter how imperfect?!

when my friend from Kenya came to buy goats he always asked for the big cabbage, broccoli leaves. I asked about it from him and he said that they were the best part of the plant. we decided to make cabbage roles out of the outer leaves. it is a family tradition now to make cabbage rolls before we harvested the heads. they are wonderful.

I grew up very close to a sauerkraut factory in upstate NY. I mean factory as it was a farm. They grew the cabbage and made it. After harvest it sat outside in big wood bins and baked/rotted in the sun. How they did it! It stunk so bad in that area for a good month! LOL! They had a huge festival yearly too. So fun!

We have always had real good success with the Heirloom Copenhagen Market Cabbage. Big, tight heads & makes excellent sauerkraut. We just use cabbage & salt in a crock. Might take longer but it is good! Then we can the kraut, pts. & qts. We don't add seeds or ?. Just what comes out of the crock.

Wow, lots of cabbage. My grandfather taught us that you should soak your cabbage in salt water. That ensures there are no worms that come from the inside. If there are any they will float.

Do your children know how to grow and preserve their own food? It’s wonderful that you provide this for them but I’m interested if they know how if they had to! 😊

Those outside big leaves would make perfect cabbage rolls

My dad did most of the gardening, mom picked and canned the vast majority. Probably a few hundred jars every year. Daddy did the sauerkraut in a huge crock every year. It was so good and crunchy.

Hi Jessica and sweet family! You’re such a hard working woman. It definitely shows in your greenhouse, garden and homestead.

Oh I love sauerkraut. My kids even liked kraut.
My grandmother was German and some kraut she would add fennel and caraway seeds.
I still make a dish with potatoes, onions, sausages with kraut seasoned with fennel and caraway, so good. It was one of our favorite dishes when we were kids and an easy meal for my mother to make. We just talked about that dish the other day and I’m going to fix it for her this weekend.

I hope you and the family have a very blessed day! ❤️

Great greenhouse clean up to give you room to move around better in there. My squash plants did not do well this year. The sauerkraut looks great, and I know it is going to taste so good! God bless you all!
