Laboratory Demonstration of a Gravity (Density) Current

This gravity current front, driven by salt water intruding on fresh water, was generated in the Hydraulics Laboratory at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography. Note the Kelvin Helmholtz billows which are visible near the forward face of the front.
