A test to measure the soil density using a ring, scale, and ruler. The experimental procedure: 1) Measure the diameter and height of the ring to calculate the volume of soil. 2) Measure the mass of the ring. 3) Gently insert the ring into the soil by pressing on the edge of the ring with your thumbs. Avoid compressing and disturbing the soil. 4) Trim the soil so that it remains in the ring only. 5) Measure the mass of the ring together with the soil. 6) Find the mass of the soil only and divide by the volume of the ring to obtain soil density.
