I realize now that he will give of his time in a way that takes away from time toward his goals. He will carve out space for you, and present you to only the most important people in his life. He incorporates you into his hobbies. If you just be your authentic self, it gives him a chance to know if you'll fit permanently. I was a choose me chick. It was fake, I was anxious, he was turned off by my desperation.
He went off to one he thought was the one, only to find she was nowhere in comparison. He came back and his actions show he's invested. He doesn't show it in emotion, but he shows it in action and consistency. In the time he was gone, I developed more secure attachment. The more consistent he is, the more I trust and relax. He just recently invited me to meet his family, so I know I passed the tests!
