The Most Underused Treatment for a Blocked Nose #mucous. The frustration of a blocked nose is an experience that resonates with many, turning even the simplest tasks into challenges. Whether caused by allergies, sinusitis, or a common cold, nasal congestion can be a relentless adversary, impacting not only physical well-being but also mental and emotional states. One of the primary frustrations lies in the hindrance it imposes on the basic act of breathing. Breathing, an involuntary and often taken-for-granted function, becomes a conscious effort when the nasal passages are obstructed. The struggle for a clear breath can disrupt sleep, affect concentration, and make even routine activities feel like uphill battles. The annoyance intensifies when considering the accompanying symptoms. Headaches, diminished sense of taste and smell, and the constant need to blow one's nose contribute to the overall discomfort. Sleep disruptions due to blocked nasal passages can lead to fatigue and irritability, amplifying the impact on daily life. Social interactions can also be affected, as a blocked nose may alter one's speech patterns or lead to mouth breathing, both of which can be socially awkward or perceived as less than ideal. The struggle to articulate words or maintain normal conversational flow adds an additional layer of frustration, potentially impacting communication and interpersonal relationships. Moreover, the repetitive nature of nasal congestion—often persisting for days or weeks—exacerbates the frustration. Over-the-counter remedies may offer temporary relief, but the nagging sense of not being able to breathe freely lingers, intensifying the mental strain associated with a blocked nose. Addressing the frustration of a blocked nose requires patience and a multifaceted approach. Humidifiers, nasal decongestants, and saline solutions can provide relief, while identifying and addressing the underlying cause is essential for long-term management. #BlockedNose #NasalCongestion #BreathingStruggles #Sinusitis #ColdSymptoms #NoseBlowing #NasalDiscomfort #SleepDisruptions #WellnessStruggles #FrustratingSymptoms #BreathingChallenges #HealthAnnoyances #ClearBreathing #NasalRelief #CongestionIssues #DailyStruggles #NasalObstruction #HealthFrustrations #RespiratoryWellness #BreatheEasier #fyp #fypシ #medicine

The hospital where my mom took my sister when she had a really bad sinus infection as a baby they did this with saline and she could breathe 10x better. If you do this right you will be just fine

I'm allergic to flour and I work in a pizza restaurant where there is flour EVERYWHERE. I used to get sinus infections every other month or more until I started to rinse. I only rinse on days that I work and I'll rinse twice then. I've been two years now without a sinus infection 💯

I can't use rinses. I tend to drown myself. 😐

I've struggled with sinusitis since I was a baby (I'm 45 now). Only thing that ever helps is a neti pot. Those squirt ones make me feel like I'm being water boarded! I use cooled boiled water with salt, and make sure my net pot is always spotlessly clean. Takes some getting used to but it's a lot better than the chronic nose bleeds I used to get from the decongestant sprays, the side effects from sinus meds, the repeated antibiotic courses, etc... The salt is crucial - plain water burns like f.

Netty pots actually recommend using boiled water mixed with their saline solution. You’re supposed to let it cool until it’s only slightly warm before use. The packaging also says not to use it if one of both sides are completely blocked. No water will flow through. The netty pot uses gravity to flush saline solution through the sinuses. It’s a lot more gentle than forcing water through.

I used the tap water for the longest time because I didn't think the water I drank would be bad to go up my nose. I've stopped doing that. Thankfully I lived in hawaii so the likely that saved my life all those years

These are a game changer. When my kids were younger they’d constantly be sick, slept poorly from not being able to breathe. I’d do this after a hot bath and they’d sleep so well

When i was a kid my mom had these extensions for the vacuum cleaner that sucked all the mucus out. Felt like my brain was melting but i've never had such a clear nose since

I have panic attacks when I do those, I can't get myself to do it. I would like to but can't, I had to have emergency brain surgery after getting an infection through my sinuses and I know it might have helped prevent it but I can't bring myself to do it.

I found that diet plays a huge role. Cutting out dairy and alcohol was a life changer!

I remember using that as a kid, but my adenoids were so big that the water couldn't get to the other nostril.

Doesn't always work. Sometimes your nose is so clogged the rinse doesn't go through.

I tend to use a distilled water+saline rinse when I get head colds, it's always been one of the best ways to help that blockage and horrible smell

Plus satisfying

I use nasal rinses 3 to 4 times a day when I'm sick. If I feel a cold coming on I rinse twice a day and gargle with salt water to try and catch it before it progresses. I keep the kettle boiled so that I have boiled water to fill it up with. I have 3 bottles, so I wash them all with a dedicated sponge and bottle brush and then disinfect them with Milton (for baby bottles). I rinse with cooled boiled water before using them for my nose. The relief that it gives you when that plug of mucus runs out cannot be described in words.
