Looks like your hair is starting to grow in nicely, Doc

I'm a 24 year old male with a skincare routine- just OTC Retinol and sunscreen for now. Everybody at work thinks I'm crazy when I apply sunscreen before we leave the building. I figure this is the only body I'm gonna get- may as well take good care of it! Thanks for all the information Doc.

So glad to see your hair coming back, even though you look good without it as well.

I've been using tretinoin (generic retin a) for 22 years. I'm 46 and have ZERO wrinkles, I still get carded, and when people see my bday on my ID their jaws drop and they say "no wayyy". *I also stay out of the sun & use sunscreen if I must go in the sun* Believe the doc, people.

Congrats on your “hirsute” looks, Doc. It’s been heart warming to follow your recovery - I know one doesn’t ever recover from a immune condition but you clearly have proven that it can be managed and improved. 👏🏻👍🏼

I'm crowding 70, and my skin needs all the help it can get! I go for the Retin A at 0.5 strength. It was very irritating to begin with, so I "sandwich it" between a soothing moisturising ceramide serum (Cerave Hyaluronic Acid Serum for Face with Vitamin B5 and Ceramides) then my non-irritating peptides (low concentration Niacinamide, Matryxil and Argiriline and a couple of other ones in an Inkey List serum) then a tiny pea of Retin A, then I top it off with a few drops of Jojoba oil (jojoba oil is the closest plant analog to human sebum). It's a tad greasy at first, but I'm a back sleeper, and by morning my skin is as smooth as a baby's butt One day a week I give my skin a break and only cleanse and put on the jojoba oil. One other day in the week, I use a mild enzymatic + lactic acid moisturising exfoliating mask. And I apply Korean sunscreen as though it were a religious duty. (I'm allergic to Avobenzone and not happy with the cosmetic properties of mineral-only sunscreens, so Korea for the win.) It's basically the same routine in the morning, but I substitute Dr. Brenner's Vitamin C, E & Ferrulic acid serum for the retinol and use Estrogen Estriol Cream (84 Servings, 3.5oz Pump) 175mg of USP Micronized Estriol as my moisturiser underneath my sunscreen. I also take Heliocare, skin ceramides, collagen powder, and hyaluronic acid supplements. I know people think this is overkill, but I'm between Fitzgerald Type I and II, so.... I also use a red light mask, the Nira Pro at home laser, and my long-time favorite, the NuFace micro current device. Most people guess that I'm in my mid fifties (I'm sure some of that is diplomacy) but a lot of it is that I do NOT look 70!

This is such a clear explanation. Excellent. Btw 2-3 weeks after I started using a retinol-containing moisturiser, a work colleague out of the blue asked me if I’d changed my skin care products (not something we had ever discussed before) as my skin looked “amazing”. 😊

I've been using Retinol for over 6 months, and my skin looks so good. I swear by it.

I use retinol daily but I once was prescribed retinoic acid to get rid of a really bad melasma patch on my forehead after being in Israel for work. It was very harsh and irritating, but the blotch disappeared like magic

This is the best explanation on this subject that I have ever seen!

Around age 17, I started using a tinted moisturizer that contained spf and retinol. At the time, I didn’t know much about skincare in ingredients and just used it because it looked natural. Fast forward to age 25, I started using 0.1% tretinoin that my friend gave me. It took a year for my skin to acclimate to it but now at age almost 28, my skin is looking better than ever! I also use SPF religiously now. I still get the odd breakout but it’s nothing compared to what my skin was like before. During my early 20s I struggled with acne so much I tried EVERYTHING. I’m so glad I stuck with tretinoin.

My teenage daughter was using one of the retinols for her acne. One day she called from school and said she didn’t feel good. I went to pick her up and saw her face beet red and so swollen. She told me she was sitting outside on the bleachers, mind you this was in Sunny hot Florida!
I gave her benydral and packed her face on ice, called her dermatologist and that was all that could be done.
When your doctor says, USE SUNBLOCK and stay out of the sun, heed their advise.
Dr. Linkov, love all your videos especially ones like this. Some people think that just because you are a plastic surgeon, you don’t educate on face creams and other medications. Thank you again for your knowledge 👍 BTW, hair is coming out great☺️

I have been looking at products with Retinol the past few days, thinking that it can help my skin healthier, but I didn't have a good understanding until this video. Thank you for filling in the blanks.😊

Differin works so much better than retinol, I can see the difference. Very informative video, thank you Doc!

Thank you for your informative videos. I'm in my 60's and have been using a prescription product for almost one year. The ingredients are Tretinoin 0.07%, Dexpanthenol 1%, Tranexamic Acid 5%, and Niacinamide 4%. My pores appear smaller and they are no longer clogged. My skin is brighter and no longer dull. I started with a lower percentage of Tretinoin before my current formulation. Overall, I am very pleased with the results.

In Germany even the Differin Gel equivalent is prescription only. To give it to you, the dermatologist has to diagnose you with acne, which in turn makes you a more "risky" patient to the insurance company which charge you an extra fee for years to come.... 😢
