In the situation of backflipping, it is so much better to actually double jump in the scenario. Not only does the ball go higher, it goes faster so the ball goes outside more. Though it may give them possession, it is better than leaving the ball wide in front of your net so someone could just tap it in.

I did a backward flick save in a vary simular spot but it was a little higher
