Yep. My granddaughter and grandson could, with supervision, manage my 110 and 125 lb intact male Rotties no problem. Taught them early how to be confident around dogs. They still are 5 yrs later.

I’ve been training my own dogs and helped train the dogs of friends for over 25 years now. One thing I noticed is that kids often achieve amazing obedience from dogs. One of the reasons why I believe this is the case is because of the utter conviction and confidence those kids have. If the dog knows the command, (s)he’ll comply more easily when the individual giving that command does it with the proper confidence and body language.

I’ve lost count of how many times I could see the exact second when a dog was going to stop listening/take off during off-leash work etc. It was when the handler “sagged”. (S)He would lose confidence and the dog would tune in to those tells. Kids are incredibly consistent in their body language, and up to a certain age they’ll fully trust the adult telling them they can tell a dog to do what they want. The dog tunes in to that confidence and… complies.

Of course this isn’t always the case. But I’ve seen it happen so many times I believe in it.

This is a well trained dog, and a confident little girl. And… the trainer is close by. Recipe for succes. I absolutely LOVE this!
