RECOMMENDED ARTIFICIAL TEARS

IN THIS VIDEO
Serious eye infections started to pop in clinics last year involving a specific strain of pseudomonas aeruginosa. These infections were causing vision loss, enucleation (removing the eyeball), and 3 counts of death because the infection got in the blood stream. Ezricare was the brand name, but the eye drops were manufactured in a lab in India under the name Global Pharma. These eyedrops were recalled and removed from shelves in January 2023 and is currently being investigated. Ezricare eye drops were made in a multiuse regular bottle, but was preservative free, which can be dangerous. This video will go over the difference in the bottles and specifics of the 2023 dry eye drop recall.

My dry eye improved greatly with several measures:
* i started using Refresh Omega 3 single one preservative free. They help rebuild the oily layer on the eyes.
* I wash my eyelids and lashes 2 x a day with a little bit if baby shampoo. This kills mites and stimulates the meibomium glands.
* I use a blue light filter and dim the screen on all electronic devices.
* I lowered my PC monitors so I'm looking down at it not up.
* initially I used a night time eye gel to help heal my dry eyes. No longer needed.
* also I used to run a cool mist humidifier by the bed, no longer needed.
* sometimes I will apply organic hexane free castor oil drops to my eyelids, it helps moisturize the eyes. Test on regular area like arm before trying. I'm not a doctor.
* some people say taking fish oil or flax oil helps them a lot. Check with your doctor before taking them.
This all helped improve my dry eyes from severe to almost no problem.

I've never even heard of that brand of eye drops. I stick with brand name eye drops I've heard of like Systane (made in the USA). I don't buy generic equivalent for eye drops, brand name. These are your eyes, you're not buying jeans or a backpack 🤓.

I feel for the people that went through this. Maybe the day will come when we won’t need artificial treatments tears or eye drops.

Thank you so much for letting us know which eye drop was causing blindness. I kept looking for a news article that would address this. I have serious dry eye issues and appreciate the info you share on your channel. Thanks!

Here's a Tip, if the labeling says packaged in the USA it doesn't mean the drops are manufactured here, they ship it in bulk containers from the country of origin.

Would you please make a video of Restasis eye drops? Are they safe to use? What should be the expectations?

Having Sjogren’s, I rely on many artificial tears. I have been terrified to use eye drops since this story broke. My ophthalmologist wants me to use preservative free. There are so many in the packaging like Ezricare. Like Systane. It’s very troubling and confusing. Please consider doing another video on this! Some ppl like me have to use these multiple times a day.

Unfortunately we have to be cautious of buying anything from India. I saw a documentary a missionaries who went to India and they were in a tiny canoe going up River and there were nothing but dead bodies on every side floating. Because in India the poor people are not buried their fed to the fish when they die. One of my customers had to go to India on business and he said he couldn't wait to get out of there because it was so thirsty wouldn't drink any of their water but it was the dirtiest place on Earth

Oof, that kind of infection sounds awful! Thankfully the contamination point was found. I'd probably be giving any eye drops manufactured at that company a wide berth for awhile.

Thank you so much you explained so much that I wish my own doctor would explain. Made it so simple. You’re a great teacher. Just last night. I was checking the list again to make sure that my Systane. Preservative free was OK. The way you explained about the individual applications and the other bottle really helped me. I appreciate your help so much. I hope your channel will prosper. I’m going to put you on Facebook.

Nice channel thus far. Subscribed for sure. BTW a video on CLAPIKS might be fun. It's not used much for hyperopia post refractive surgery, but seems promising. I suspect it doesn't work as well for natural hyperopic peeps not post cataract patients but I'm doing it now. Hopefully it works.

If not, wondering if doing the prep work for PRK (ie use the alcohol to obliterate the cornea) then CLAPIKS afterwards may help millions of people who are +1 diopters or so off.

What about the night gels? You have to touch the tip in order to get the gel to put in your eye. How can you handle it safely to avoid contamination?

Antimicrobial factor. Please let me know your thoughts, thank you
