Thank you so much for this video. I've been trying to find this information before I committed to buying a bike outside of Commifornia.

Pulled the trigger on an out of state bike because of your video.. thanks and great info.. The dmv just verified the engine number, vin and millage.. since it had 2300 they didn't ask for the emissions tag

Thank you, for taking the time to make this video. I use to have a night rod special back in 09. It’s a serious bike, very responsive. Good luck.

I bought a motor from a private dealer in California. It’s an auctioned bike from out of state. The dealer assured me its ok and that he’s licensed to sell it. Now, I just found out itt has a “suspense” registration due to “Verify Records” reason and being held up at DMV HQ. If DMV does not allow it through, what can I do? The dealer said it would take sometime but its been a while. Dealer is a lier and i think he’s taking advantage of me. Can I bring it back to the dealer and have all my money back?

What if you don’t have a license and you want to register a motorcycle?

Great info. I'm in the process of registering my wife's out-of-state 2002 Heritage. I need to take it to the CA DMV Monday for a vin verification. I was holding my breath regarding the 8th vin number. it's a 3 so I should be good.

The only thing I'm worried about is the loud aftermarket exhaust. Hopefully, they don't ask me to start it.

What if bike is originally purchased new in CA, then taken to other state and registered there. Can I bring it back to CA and register without any issue? Appreciate your response and your video here. Thanks!

They're saying I can't register my motorcycle in the state of California at the DMV. Because I don't have the newest registration on me. So I'm stumped

Thank you for the video. My daughter (living in CA) is in this situation right now. Her dad, living in Montana, bought a Harley there (It has, like 1800 miles). Then he went to Federal prison ... hopefully for a long time. She flew to MT, brought back the motorcycle and his dog. Then learned about CA's jacked up registration rules for motorcycles. I wonder if "prison" would loosely meet the definition of "inheritance" for a DMV exemption?!? Anyone know?
