I wonder do people know that a person doesn't have to be old to be an auntie? You can be a new born baby and be an auntie with grown nieces and nephews that are old enough to be your parent 🤷. Imo the word "auntie" means people respect you and you're very relatable like a family member.

Auntie is like calling someone old. It's disrespectful.

She said WTF she said. I don’t like ppl calling me Auntie neither especially if I’m not your AUNTIE. Women older than her calling her Auntie is Disrespectful ‼️‼️‼️‼️

It definitely comes from a respect base but my Generation 90’s/early 2000 babies call her that In more of a compliment way. Her vibe, the way she dresses, her mannerisms, hood-side,down to earth. All that scream auntie. But I do be seeing older people in her comments calling her that when they’re her age or older than her. I definitely don’t think she would be offended if it was the younger crowd calling her that but not too much. Oprah and gayle are not cultural type people. Like they don’t represent the south/ black community like we come from the same place. so I wouldn’t call them auntie anyway.

No one wants to be called old all the time, Auntie, momma, ma'am, queen all these terms of endearments mean old to strangers and relatives what law says women are supposed to like it !!!

Auntie: A familiar diminutive form of Aunt, as a form of address to an older woman to whom one is not related, originally in the southern U.S. of elderly slave women !!!

That young lady is laughing at Mary for not liking the term auntie, cause to her Mary is supposed to like it, what Law says that ???!!!

The trouble is not being old, women dont want to be reminded of it all the time !!! Terms of endearments, are an undercover way to call a woman old to her face, and she is supposed to love the cover up ! Love the lie ! Old age is like being FAT reminding some one about it is not gonna help, it's not going away ! It's not doing any one any favors !!!

Most Of Her Fan Base Is Born Between The Years Of: 1955 And 1981.

...That Makes Tremendous Sense Why Mary J. Blige Feels That Way Like A Commenter Said On Here It Is Age Shaming.

Especially She'll Be Turning Fifty Within The Early-Mid Of Winter 2021, (1-11).

It's not even about age sometimes. It's people using the term to get space and informalness with you. I had a student walk up to me in class after I marked attendance who said, "You got me auntie?" Nothing about it was respectful or seeing me as an elder (a respected older person). He was trying to be familiar.
