Reaction - Fanny - Hey Bulldog - All Female Rock Band Covering The Beatles

This is a reaction video to Fanny performing a cover version of The Beatles song "Hey Bulldog". Heavy bass and piano are key to this song and Fanny does this perfectly. As John Lennon's vocals are double tracked in the original, the band Fanny uses all four members singing in harmony giving it a full vocal range. Add a wild guitar solo in the instrumental break and you have a wonderful cover to a Beatles song. Give it a try!

I bought a couple of their albums on vinyl after I had forgotten about Fanny. They had some great original songs also. “ Hey Bulldog” is a great cover!

I agree, "hey bulldog" popped up on YouTube, and frankly I was blown away. I was a little shocked that I had never heard of them. It was a lesson in realizing how many really talented bands are left behind by the industry big wigs.

A few things.

First, Fanny does a great live version of “Hey Bulldog” on Beat Club. Fanny is even better live than on record.

Second, when Wild Honey had the open mic at The Troubadour, Nickey Barclay was not involved with group. Addie Lee was the lead guitarist but she departed and June Millington moved from rhythm to lead guitar. After signing with Reprise, they went looking for a keyboard player and picked Nickey.

Third, both June Millington and Alice de Buhr departed Fanny after Morher’s Pride. Brie Brandt (now known as Brie Howard-Darling) replaced de Buhr on drums. Interestingly, it was de Buhr would replaced Brandt in the Millington sisters’ original band The Svelts.

Fourth, Fanny recorded an album in 2018 called Fanny Walked The Earth. This lineup consisted of June and Jean Millington plus Brie Howard-Darling.

I’m glad you like Fanny’s take on “Hey Bulldog” and hope to hear more Fanny reactions soon.

Their version of Hey Bulldog was superb, as was everything they did over their first four albums. I particularly like Soul Child.

If you got a kick out of that you'll go into dithyrambs over their live version:

Hey Todd I just discovered your channel by accident and checked out your video upload list and was really impressed with some of my favorite bands on there and nobody else is willing to play Babe Ruth, The Nice, Flash, Hawkwind so I would like to make a request of a tune by one of my favorite Symphonic Rock bands The Enid. They are very close friends with Hawkwind and toured together frequently. The tune is called Punch and Judy Man and I have been beating the drum for years trying to get someone to play it. It’s absolutely stunning!
