My father is a scientologist, has been since the age of 18. He is now 64. I was close to my father until the age of 9. He ended up meeting his wife, who is also a scientologist. His wife pushed so hard to make me as a "SP". He believed her and slowly stopped being a part of my life. I am married now with 5 children, and he has no knowledge of my life or his grandchildren. I had been through a lot during the time I was around my father, but that's another story... all I know is that scientology breaks families apart.

As an Ex-Scientologist your presentation was brilliant. I was on staff in South Africa for a few years in the late 1980's. My mom was OT6 and my stepdad OT8. They were never staff. Both my parents have passed since, but thank the gods their eyes opened and they left and were both declared before that. Being a puplic member, normal staff member or Sea Org Member really makes a difference to your exposure. The are not and will never be a religion. It is only to get the tax exemption. The disconnect policy is very real and painful. With their passing, about a year apart, we had to hold 2 services for each, as the friends still in Scientology weren't allowed to attend, with threat of severe consequences, to attend with ex members. They were also not permitted to visit either of them on their death beds. My dad also, as far as I'm concerned, died prematurely due to prostate cancer, because the believe in conventional medical treatment is frowned upon. You are also told that everything that happens to you is your own fault, and that includes any and all illnesses, and the only way to fix it is through more and more auditing. They both died basically penny less after giving the church most all their money. It is a very distructive cult indeed. My anger and disgust for these people run deep. I suffer from mayor depression and anxiety and was never permitted to get counciling or medication. In my family and "adopted" family of Ex-Scientologist and active members, 6 passed away in just over 2 years from cancer.

I worked for a Scientologist once and was constantly trying to get me to do tests and things, the whole idea was to make me feel stupid. If I am that stupid then he and his church could make me smarter and stronger. Thank goodness I was strong enough in myself to recognise what he was doing. I knew I wasn't stupid.

I enjoyed this deep dive. I watch a lot of YouTubers who are ex Scientologists and their stories are unreal. If Scientology gets wind you are doing any reporting on them, you will know. If they threaten or harass you, get a hold of the aftermath foundation. The aftermath foundation is run by ex Scientologists who help people escape Scientology.

This hits close to home. As someone that unfortunately grew up around Sheridan, Oregon. The Delphian School is widely known. This school is very much surrounded around L.Ron’s teachings. Just recently accredited but a long going school that costs $42, 000 per student per year. At one time the most expensive school in the states and also claims Tom Cruise’s kids as alumni.

As the crazy teenager I couldn’t ever deny being, we explored the area and tried to catch interactions with the people. It’s not just the 800 acre school that is spooky. A huge amount of the surrounding houses especially up behind the school homes followers. They have weird sculptures, night time activity, and other weird happenings continuously. Curious enough, we went up and stayed a night. We didn’t even make it through the night. Near the sculptures we found there were fires, chanting, and bones on the ground. The car we frequently took up there must have been known after awhile because we started getting followed every single time we went up. This area is SO secluded that being followed after our findings was enough to scare us away. I haven’t been up there sense 2016 for good reason.
