The whole shipment, ,home city" stuff ist simply the Motherland which sends its colonies new settlers, soldiers, ressources/trading through its fleet as it really was in history. also new technologies arrived in the new world that way.

I love the whole AOE series, but AOE 3 was always the one that I played as a kid and it's one of my favorite games of all time. The amount of time and effort you put into making this video is amazing and I loved every second of it. Your work definitely deserves more attention than what you received.

Very impressive and comprehensive 5 hour detailed overview with actually interesting and relevant historical commentary. At first I was reluctant to watch the full video because of its length, but you definitely got and held my attention throughout the entire video — I just couldn’t turn it off. I couldn’t agree more with your points, especially the criticism of the campaign. Appreciate the video, hope you keep on the top-level quality content.

Side note: I just cant get over how well this video is done. Its detailed, objective, fair, accurate, detailed but comprehensive, and provides additional contextual comments to various aspects of the game. Really a great video, one of the best Ive ever seen or listened to covering a video game.

Thanks for adding time stamps. You should update the format so that YouTube picks up on it and integrates the timestamps into the video's timeline. You did it right on the Dark Sun vid. I think you need the space-hyphen-space format like: "Intro - 0:00"

This video is so underrated, i have seen it like 5 times already and i hope the algorythm helps you and makes this channel boom. I love the mix of gameplay and historic commentary, the only nitpick I have is that the sound mix is off sometimes, for example when the movie clips play they are too loud sometimes (I watched this last night when I was falling asleep and I just had a jumpscare because of that lmao)

Had to comment again. I just go to the oft-forgotten Pete Pete the Panda section. Jokes aside, I love how this video is part historical lecture and part game analysis. It's absolutely fantastic and I learned a lot of actual historical facts from you.

The worst change this game did that you didn't talked about, was armor, in age2 and mythology, each unit had 3 types of armor and each had a specific amount of them, even some civs difference themselves by having more armor(like Mali in 2 and Egypt in aom)and can be upgraded. While in 3 units just have just 1 type of armors, this was change in the african expansion, but it was too late, like 5 expansions later.

Currently, the Franks have the highest win rate of all civilizations in AoEIIDE, and iirc they actually were one of the if not the top Civ for a long time in the AoEIIHD days. So maybe AoEIII&II aren't that different after all.

While AoEIII is only my third favourite game in the series, (behind AoEII&AoM ), I still enjoyed my time with it, however what kind of ruined it for me the most was something, that I rarely see mentioned: It wasn't possible to save multiplayer games. When I played with my family in the evening we often didn't have enough time to finish a game, so in AoEII (& AoM once we had figured out how to properly load a multiplayer save) we could save and safely resume another time. In AoEI&AoEIII this wasn't possible, and while AoEI gets the excuse for being the first, AoEIII really should have known better, when both II&M had already figured it out. 

I'm actually surprised you never mention AoM (my favourite game in the series), when in many ways it was the missing link between AoEII&AoEIII, it pioneered the engine of AoEIII, got rid of stone first, had one villager per farm, but farms never ran out and in the Titans expansion it also introduced a new Civ, whose Villagers functioned like AoEIII villagers, in that they didn't need drop off points. I really hope a AoMDE will come eventually, AoMEE is a broken mess.

About the farms, don't worry about AoEIV, considering both AoEIDE&AoEIIDE improved the auto queue, so that the villager can now be made to automatically replant any farm, as long as the wood is there, (After AoEIDE originally had their farms "upgraded" to only the AoK days, farms running out sounds galore).

I’ll agree with the French hate. Learning history they just always have an overwhelming advantage and just find ways to screw it up. It’s like late stage Rome without the prestige. You know they’re strong but you know someone at the top is gonna fuck it up 😂

I love Age III. Grew up on it and still play it to this day. While I recognize Age II is more popular. I prefer III due to it being one of my favorite time periods in history. And I prefer the faster pace of gameplay.
