AWESOME Manual Pacific Traction Elevator (Machine Room!) Hotel Union Square - San Francisco, CA

[Recorded 8-6-19] Here's a really cool elevator! This is a manual Pacific Elevator! The crank was replaced with a CJ Anderson toggle switch and the speed was drastically reduced for safety. Mostly everything else is original! Interestingly, there are no call buttons on any of the floors! If you closed the door, then nobody would be able to use it until a mechanic came to unlock it. At the end of the video, I show a quick peek of the machine room! You can see this has what looks to be an OTIS bottom-drive unit and an OTIS magnet controller. A big thanks goes out to the manager for letting us take a look at this awesome elevator!

The older the better, this is a great elevator

The first time I found this one the car itself didn’t have roof on it, so you could see up to whole shaft which was really cool. The staff here is always so friendly!

BEAUTIFUL ELEVATOR! Not by appearance, but by mechanics and things like that. Management was very generous of showing you two that incredible machine room, holy shit that's awesome! And it's funny, the DOR was my 16th birthday lol
