In short, MoorMaster systems consist of remotely operated robotic arms that move vacuum pads. The pads attach to a ship’s hull and keep the vessel safely moored. The mooring is completed in less than 30 seconds and once moored the system drastically reduces vessel motion for higher loading productivity. MoorMaster systems are already in use for applications including 400m container ships, bulk carriers of more than 300m, RoPax vessels, and electrical vessels.

What if the system fails while alongside? How does it deal with high and low tide??

Most of the South American ports doesn't have proper break water to reduce the sea effects in side the port which cause heavy surging of mooring ropes leading to parting. Sometimes we do rope watches apart from cargo and gangway. I think this invention seems to be the right solution for them.. giant company like DP world, PSA, SSA, APM should implement these units in their ports. Enough with surging.
