I know at least six people who have also made skirts using the Keystone Guide. Original Modern Walking Skirt was made by Bernadette Banner, I have respectfully lifted the idea from her.

Possible pocket solution:
Go farther back in history.

Put pocket slits that go through both layers of the skirt, allowing you to reach into your tied on pocket bags.

a little late to the pocket situation but i just saw a tiktok where they did the triple fold Origami pocket that Bernadette mentioned and it’s not the same shape we use today it looks like an envelope! I think Cathy‘s skirt video shows that pocket, and if it’s also suspended with ribbon i‘d assume it wouldn’t lump!

The skirt looks lovely. Is it sad that I sat here through the whole thing trying to figure out how to put pockets in a skirt I’m not making?

Lovely skirt :) Great idea to shorten it for more practical modern wear. Look forward to seeing what else you do.

That is a happy accident! It is such a cool detail with the grommets and contrasting ribbon.

Funny - I despise pockets unless they are in coats and jackets. So I don't add them and yes, folks do want to give you heck for this. But, whatever, you are the creator!

Don't understand the problem with the pockets, they simply fall between the two layers of fabric as they would in a lined skirt.

Your skirt looks gorgeous! Your drafting video also helped a ton!

How much yardage did you end up using if you don’t mind for the length you chose? I saw someone else say about 5 yards (I know it’ll depend on length but rough estimates work for me)

I wore the Edwardian walking skirt in the 1970s-1980s. Both long and shorter. It is universally flattering to women and it is comfortable and fun to wear. Is there a reason people aren't using the Folkwear version of this skirt?

When making a circle skirt, how does one avoid hem droop from a portion of the skirt gem being sort of on the bias? Could you point out someplace w that info or just a quickie response, here! I have circle skirts swirling in my brain!
Oh, additionally, how do you estimate the amount of fabric to buy? I love wool & wool blends... Expensive stuff. I'm sure I'll make a skirt in cotton, first, just to be sure I've gotten "it". Thanks a bunch!
I do all my sewing by hand as I do not speak "machine".

Just make the pockets fall between the layers.
Or you could add square pockets on each side.

Where would I get one of those chalk pens?

this video's music appears to be muted from approx 4.04 to 5.55 ?

And how did you calculate the yardage you would need for a beginning sewing/ not using comercial patterns.

Am I rude for thinking she wastes a lot of fabric when she's cutting?

In the drafting video you stat that the skirt is 7 panels. as you have 4 actual pattern pieces in a regular skirt wich pieces are cut 2, or cut on the fold?
