Matt, do you have a Client focused Home Builder cheat sheet/check list? Just an organized list of things for new home builders to consider when working with their builder to help them make better decisions about how they want to build there home.

I think Justin invited Matt for a surprise tour for the same reason your home room teacher drops a pop quiz on a random Tuesday.

Zero disrespect meant: born and raised in Florida and building and constructing here for 25yrs plus. There is no way I’d build anything anywhere without clips and tie downs. I don’t care what the local codes dictate. Extreme and severe weather can hit anywhere at anytime.

Very Cool video! Big bass, big house! I thought there might some curb your enthusiasm moments but gotta hand it to Matt, he has some tact.

When I finish building my own house someday, you're invited Matt. Cheers

Would have never guessed pro fishing would bring in enough money for something like this. Love the roof framing and the secret bonus room.

I think that you added a lot of good info to the builders of Justin's home. I have been watching a lot of your videos and have used a lot of info that I have learned from you. The main issue is getting a lot of the home owners to spend the extra money to make it better. Have showed them some of your videos, and they agree 100% to the upgrades. Very familiar with the area that Justin is building his home in Alabama. We fish there a couple times a year and have caught a lot of big bass.!!!

Great advice to homeowners who seemed to pay attention kick outs for roof especially helpful along with getting energy calc for additional insul. shows savings today but sometimes overlooked are re-sale increased values and energy costs that will surely increase over time giving savings an even greater impact in 10 years. Owners should get and keep a copy of this show and save for future sale, very few tools in todays electronic house tours of for sale properties are as effective as video of quality of initial build which makes this home even more attractive to next owner.

Matt, I have to give you major props on that walk thru, you were straddling a fine line there. "Advice not asked for is not well received", but man you handled that well. I'm sure Jarrod Jackson is a great builder that will continue to get better, but hopefully for the Lucas families sake he accepts your tips/pointers with a happy heart and a smile on his face in the spirit they were meant. Would love to see one day a Build Show check list (credit to @davidblalock9945) or even a builder network across the country certified by Matt Risinger/Build Show etc.. Thanks for another great video!

That builder is brave- have the YT King of Residential Building show up to your OSB/Tyvek slapped up house. Matt, I hope you pull that guy aside and have him yank that crap off and replace with peel-n-stick to air proof and waterproof that house. And who doesn’t put solid bird blocks in if you plan on spraying foam???? What the Ef? 😮 Built for show, not for the guts.

Hello Matt from Sydney Australia.

At the building development application process, you have to meet the thermal efficiency standard setout in code and now known as a seven star rating, In all states NatHERS and BASIX in New South Wales. There are accredited database apps (3) calculators and training for accredited assessor. Once this certificate is printed off, it accompanies the application to the local government authority. This is another way the construction industry is playing its part, meeting international efforts to reduce energy consumption and meeting targets set for the year 2030.

Anyone know who Phil is from the video? Matt mentions he's from Michigan (where I live). Just curious if he's builder up here??

Sort of nice -- QUESTION -- Matt, I must ask honestly, I do not believe that you thought that house was well built. I know that you were trying to get along but even I could spot the difference between the construction on your personal house and this one. Just too much that struck me as lacking. From the house wrap, to the sheathing to the open gaps and daylight to just about everything. It was big though.

2x4's walls, spray foam, wood fascia, no anchor bolts or hurricane ties, looks like a typical mcMansion.
