This is what in my family we call dad goals. Its said when we see a son or daughter showing a positive personality trait their dad has. Im sure you would have done and said the same if it was your rod and saw the positive the fish was still on and your son saw that and never once gave the negative of breaking the rod a 2nd thought only the positive his fish was still on

That's why we use Uglysticks in our household, you can bend the tip to touch the handle! I've yet to ever break one, even with my ultralight pulling in carp! Lol
