Hello, and welcome to the Commander Sleeper Series!

In this video, Jake and Joel go over MTG's 16th expansion: Urza's Legacy. When we think of Urza's Legacy, we think of Grim Monolith. The foil, over the past few years, has jumped higher and higher. This is the first set that foils were introduced, so Grim Monolith is like the holy grail of the first-ever foils. Other than that, the set has fun cards like Defense of the Heart and Palinchron, but this video isn't about the expensive Urza's Legacy cards. This video will focus on the cards that aren't as expensive as the cards we have mentioned... the sleepers.

When Pioneer was announced, we knew that we needed to cover each Pioneer-legal set and sift through the bulk for cards with hidden potential. We had so much fun doing the Pioneer Sleeper Series, that we decided it would be a great project to attempt to cover Commander (EDH) from a similar perspective: What are cheap cards that have good commander playablity and value? In this series, we attempt to answer that question! What is the best commander card from each set, on a budget? What are the commander sleepers?

What is Commander:
Commander, officially recognized on June 17, 2011, originated from a format called EDH (Elder Dragon Highlander-- there can only be one). The first time we played EDH was around 2009. It is easily the best way to play Magic: The Gathering. The idea was to have a casual format with 100 cards and only a single copy of any one card, with a General: a singular Legendary Creature card in its own zone that can be cast any time, once you have the mana for it. If your general is removed, it goes up by a casting cost of 2 for each time it is removed. Once WOTC officially recognized the format and printed the first Commander product, your General was instead called your Commander and instead of the format being called EDH, it instead became recognized as Commander. If you ever hear anyone say EDH, they are talking about Commander. Make sure to know the cards that are banned in the format before building your deck (listed below).

Angel's Trumpet: Note that even the creatures that just came into play (and still have summoning sickness) still get tapped. There's no exception! BTW: You guys are fun to watch. Not too serious, but thoughtful discussion on all things Magic. Keep up the great work! :)

Viashino Heretic is great, I found a couple in my older cards the other day and it’s already done a ton of work in my mono red deck.

The heretic was still happy as hell next to his pillars !!

For a second I thought the whole video was going to be outtakes of intros

Harmonic Convergence and Rebuild are both amazing. Tuck all enchantments or bounce all artifacts! Very surprised you didn't mention Harmonic Convergence. Also think Subversion was a boring pick. Love this series tho. I wish you started with Arabian Nights tho.

Subversion is too weak imo guys. Spending 5 mana and having to w8 till ur next turn to drain 1 life from each? If the trigger was at each player's upkeep then it would be good but not as it is.

Damping Engine interestingly does not restrict u from casting planeswalkers btw. Just wanted to point that out. Love the series btw learnt about tons of cards guys thank you!

Zoom back a little on your mugs please. As it was, I enjoy looking back at older sets for EDH gems.
