9 TOXIC THINGS PARENTS SAY TO THEIR CHILDREN

My mother was a far-right fundamentalist christian. When I was 5 years old she told me I was going to hell! I was continually told during my childhood that I was a sinner. When I divorced my first abusive husband, who was a minister, she didn’t speak to me for two years and wouldn’t let my father speak to me either. I’m now 78, and even after years of therapy, the trauma burdens me.

When I graduated in high school, my father told me. You don’t need to study further, because I will let your sister study first to become a nurse, your brother will become a police, and you will be their driver. 😢😢😢 now? I leave with my own family and my husband happens to have a car. While my sister is having hard time in her family life and my brother has no sense for what future he will find. But because he is my father I didn’t take him for granted. I always send him financial help and make his life comfortable. How I wish he push me more to become a better me. Those words strikes me until now. It hurts me that my own father would only dream of nothing but to become a driver to her siblings. Until now he never says sorry for that. I am his first born of his first wife and he abandoned me, I grow up with my grandma and she never teach me to be stubborn towards my father.
