Velcro is easier if your Article 15 hearing goes bad.

Once the military starts paying for our alterations, sure I’ll start sewing on my ranks

Always keep one set velcro... otherwise you get smoked for your promotion "celebration"

This guy has a bigger paycheck than the pfc

Let the army pay for it and I'm all for it. I'm an e6. Principal is principal. You can't force the kids that don't have money and make them go get it sewn on.

“You worked hard to be a specialist” lmao.

That's a great answer for a garrison soldier.

I can tell this guy is the kind of NCO that makes his soldiers want to ets and is then shocked retention is so low.

Velcro is just convenient, and also easier to resell velcro ocps for when you get out

Velcro is perfectly acceptable for PFC and under. Had a guy who was a PV2 with his tapes sewn on and even the NCOs would give him crap for it since he got promoted a month later.

Lately, Special Forces have been working a lot with conventional support Soldiers as "enablers." SF requires any Soldiers who work with them to take off their rank and name tapes. That's why they made Velcro part of the uniform, to quickly be able to remove them.

Everyone should take pride in the rank they have, but Velcro has its benefits, and it is very handy at times

The Velcro serves another purpose. If you are in danger of being captured, it’s far easier to remove your rank, and any other identifying information that would lead an enemy to see you as a HVT.

This is surreal. The FSG is an absolutely humble and wonderful person. I was first introduced to him when he was a SSG, and a recruiter. Glad he is still in. Never exaggerated or mislead anybody. Always able to motivate his individuals. I still regret lying to him about prior injuries. Hope he is still doing well in life.

Sarnt Wentz! One of the absolute best NCO’s I’ve ever had the pleasure of working for.

Damn as someone who got out as a PFC cause ge got in some trouble near the end and got demoted. Thus honestly makes me feel better. I may have only been a PFC when I got out, but u was a soldier none the less and I had the balls to raise my hand and take that pledge for my country. Thank you sarnt I needed that

My clothing allowance is a tiny amount and the sewing places charge an arm and a leg for that stuff. I'll keep the Velcro

I'm sorry but when you get promoted to PFC 6 months after you get your PV2, you're wasting money to have mosquito wings and PFC rank sewn on. At SPC, I could maybe see getting them sewn, but also some people move on from specialist to corporal or sergeant within months. It's a waste of money and time until you've got some stability in your rank. You want to take pride? Do your job well.

I was so happy when AR-670-1 changed and we could get our patches sewn on. It did look great. His uniform looks good.

As a procrastinator I would 100% be a Velcro guy
