The Cash Rewards visa card is a Credit Card through PNC Bank. As far as “Off brand credit cards” go, this one is my favorite because it has a resting bonus category for gas stations. It DOES have a 3% foreign transaction fee, and only SOMTIMES has a $100 sign on bonus after you spend $1,000 in three months, but the bonus categories will hit the nail on the head for most people.
4% back on Gas stations
3% back on Restaurants
2 Back on Grocery stores
1% back on everything else
As great as those categories are, this card isn't flawless. Most credit cards have either a quarterly or annual spending cap to prevent you from earning “too” much cash back. As fair as that is, PNC's annual cap is ridiculous. It's $8,000, but here's the catch, once you spend $8,000 on anything, you loose out on the bonus categories for EVERYTHING. If you bought something for $8,000 in January an earned 1% off it, you loose out on all your bonus categories for the rest of the year. For most people this won't be an issue, especially if you just utilize this card for gas, but I can't see how most would find this frustrating.
