I'm glad you upgraded your review because I have one coming in the mail. I was told it's pretty good hardware a week ago.

YouTube is definitely being weird about deleting comments lately and not just those with links. I had a channel owner recently tell me they deleted his reply to me on his channel.

You have quite a collection in your draw.
It's good to have these alternative firmwares. I only tend to flash a device if it doesn't do what I want it to do. I am a believer in the "if it aint broken don't fix it" approach.
Once I get something working how I like it, I will leave it be :). That said, I do always enjoy seeing other peoples approaches.

I use this dongle on the default firmware and never had any issues with my ZigBee network or pairing, guess I'm one of the lucky ones

Thanks for the video, have you tried pairing sensors through a specific router? Any difference between the two tested firmwares? and a small comment - I have upgraded the firmware with the python script, didn't have to use the button as it is workable for a few seconds after you plug it in.

This may be perfect upstairs flashed as a router to my downstairs Conbee II. Or maybe the other way around?

What kind of distance are people getting with this dongle without repeaters? Line of sight and maybe through two walls, not sure it's going to work for me without spending a lot to build network. Thanks for another great video. Steve

I have issues with battery drain on Ikea remotes. They are dead after couple a week's at most. Everything worked fine before upgrade from modicam coordinator. Didn't test with dev version.

Hello, have you tried to pair the Sonoff Zigbee dongle with a TRV? I have a Tuya HY368 TRV (or smart valve) and when I try to pair it with this dongle sonoff zigbee usb dongle plus, it does not work. I know that this TRV is supported by zigbee2mqtt and HomeAssistant. I am thinking it is this dongle that does support pairing to this TRV and I would guess this can be solved by the firmware and some coding? I am trying to understand the logic behind this Zigbee devices and coordinators. Thank you for the video. It is very informative.

For me (on Windows 10) in the "Flash Programmer 2" under "Connected devices" the device (Sonoff Zigbee 3.0 USB Dongle Plus) is not called "Silicon Labs CP210x ..." bus "USB-Enhanced-SERIAL CH9102 (COM4), Virtual COM Port = COM4". Is this a problem?
Because when I want to flash it the way you said it always says "Failed!" on the bottom.

What am I doing wrong?
I tried it many times with the boot-button pressed before inserting and holding for 10seconds or even keeping it pressed the whole time.

Do I need to update the driver?
If so, how?
I tried to update the driver in the "Device Manager" but I couldn't find a driver. (It doesn't have a yellow triangle, so I think the driver should be ok, right?)

Is it also possible, that my dongle is an other version, because the PCB looks kinda different, see my photo:

I'm still with the stock firmware and haven't been able to pair the "new" Ikea STYRBAR remote (there's a white and a stainless steel looking one). Anyone else has tried this remote? I'm also a "if it aint broken don't fix it" kinda guy and just wanted to confirm if this is the Sonoff's fault or the Ikea remote before trying a new firmware.

It's really going to be hard for some of us to switch out of our current setup to this. I've had peace with Z2M + Conbee II. Besides, i still have the old version 1 bridge just sitting there in a shelf. I wish there was a way to covert it to a zigbee router/range extender., that would be awesome! All i need are routers not coordinators! 😁😁
