OneNote vs Evernote in 2020

Which should you use for cloud notes: OneNote or Evernote? Today, we'll go over some pros and cons of each, and which I prefer.

Thank you so much for alerting people to the potential loss of notebooks. I have all my notes for a book I want to write on OneNote. If I lost that it would be a disaster. I just backed up the files and put them in my Dropbox account should I ever need to retrieve them. Again, I can't thank you enough.

Your video was absolutely useful; I was thinking to change OneNote for Evernote but when you relate us about losing all your notes in OneNote I was absolutely convinced of staying with Evernote.

I just started using Evernote yesterday and to say it’s changed my life would not be an overstatement.

I’ve never use tags before. Not in Facebook and I’m not on Twitter. I’ve never participated in the tagging process. But when someone showed me that and showed me how those tags could Turn into categories, which can turn into glossaries which could turn into 1 million other things I was sold. I immediately opted for premium after seeing how limited the free level is. But I’m a power user formerly of Silicon Valley, I expect a lot from an app. I was blown away. Evernote rocks. Was little I thought of one no it looks like a big old POS. I’m glad when I was in an office that use that I ignored it.

Thanks for the video I’m definitely going to subscribe. You have a very soothing manner that makes it pleasant to listen to you talk about technical things. That’s hard to find in instructional videos or classes.

I LOVED OneNote... but switched to Evernote some years ago and use it constantly. It has become one of my most valuable and useful tools. I strongly recommend Evernote to anyone who will listen.

If you lose your OneNote files, you can easily recover them by going into your OneDrive account and seeing the OneNote's version history. Since OneNote files are stored as regular text files, you can revert back to older versions if needed.

I am glad to know the OneNote sync problems are not something I am doing wrong. It's very irritating to make notes only to have either missing information or constant sync errors for no good reason. You would think Microsoft would want to address this quickly since OneNote is pretty useless without keeping the integrity of your notes intact. This is the main reason I have not switched from Evernote since I really prefer the OneNote interface and notebook concept. Thanks for a very useful video.

Thank you for the comparison ..! I've been using Evernote for a while now to keep my notes online over my mobile and PC. And now, I'm seriously thinking about using it for taking studying notes using a screen pen.

My conclusion after seeing this video was: I will keep using paper, having picture folders and wishing a good free-form note-taking software existed.
But I won't lose hope! Thanks for the information.

I appreciated your video. I too had a disaster with OneNote. I really made an effort to switch over because of all the features that EverNote doesn't have but i ended up loosing a ton of data because of a synch issue. I work across two (2) computers and iPhone and an iPad, just not reliable at all.

I logged into my Evernote today after about 5 years after getting so fed up with sync issues in OneNote Desktop. It blew me away how much it has changed. I'm currently writing a book and will be using the notes as sections or chapters. I'll see how it goes. The Dark Mode alone in Evernote web is fantastic.

I lost all my OneNote notes 2 weeks before my last semester of college. It was tough... Switching to Evernote, even while using a stylus.

I'm so glad to find your video! It helped me settle on my inevitable switch to Evernote. I had the same issue with synching OneNote and lost 7 years of what felt like my soul. I used one note for every aspect of my world and it was wonderful until it was gone. I'm ready to retrain my mind into the colorless world of Evernote, but not without fear, LOL.

Same problem of sync then I left onenote and witched to evernote.
at the same time I do love handwriting notes so I take some notes with Samsung Notes (conversion to text feature is fantastic) and then I export to evernote.
Evernote features for archiving, checklists, searching is amazing.
