Military transport aircraft are not efficient for repetitive civilian routes. Iran produce parts, but it only has elderly aircraft. The Russian Airbus and Boeing aircraft are mostly newer. Probably less likely to need major spare parts in the short term and they might be able to produce many components themselves. However some parts, may prove to be more of a challenge. Russian manufactured aircraft have two problems. Firstly, they use many Western components and secondly, they are not that good.

That means those airliners will acquire air miles faster. Wearing them out faster. Then those will need parts also. That's just a temporary solution that's going to lead to bigger problems in the future.

This one's easy, just revive the civil aviation lines of Tupolev and Ilyushin. It's all made in Russia.

The Russian population must act like citizens... they must stop this Dictator before he permanently destroys their future, there is still hope but the window of opportunity is closing fast.

Imagine going to an overseas business meeting in a fighter jet. I think everyone at the meeting would suddenly see things your way.

This is what happens when you fully depend important things on western nations.

Heck, I think most of those planes are owned by western leasing firms (who have not been paid).

I think western companies should have the ability to collect their due from frozen Russian assets abroad.

Russia basically doesn't have the manufacturing capacity to provide for technological items like airplane parts - heck, even drilling for oil and gas (which constitutes most of the nation's income) required western companies to come in and do the work. Despite their expenditures for high profile technology like space and their military, they're basically a third world country taking advantage of their natural resources for income.

They're a gas station with the bomb.

Even their military expends huge amounts on glory projects like the SU-57 which won't be complete until the end of the decade while ignoring more pedestrian aircraft more in line with their tactical needs. There's really just not enough to go around, and outside of affluent areas like Moscow and St. Petersburg, Russia - like China - is basically a fairly impoverished backwater. That's why you see Russian troops - who are for the most part _not_ coming from those two affluent cities - looting washing machines and other products of a more affluent society (like jeans and boots) from Ukraine.

I think Russia will ask another country to order the parts their planes need. It’s a way to get around sanctions!
