Excellent review. I own both the D850 and the Fuji X-H1 and it's hard to pick which one to take on a particular shoot. So far, landscape work as always been with the D850 - just can't beat the full frame sensor and 47 MP.

FYI, you can program the movie button to be mode, this way you have it all.
I did it and works great for me.

Hey man! Nice review. I got the camera about two months ago so I don’t remember if it was by default but the record bottom can be assigned to the shooting mode, which actually is a little bit of a pain to get used to because I have been changing the mode when I just want to change the ISO haha! But in case is not by default you can totally assign it to shooting mode. Cheers!

I am blown away by the Nikon D850. Actually I purchased it end of 2017 already. And I use it for Wildlife primarily. And that is because you can crop the hell out of the pictures. And the Nikon D850 comes along with a top notch Autofocus. Highly recommended for anyone who is into Wildlife (and of course also Landscape and Portraits). It's a camera being able to do everything well, if not even perfect.

I'm a canon 5div and fuji shooter but really enjoyed the review. The d850 is a fine camera and I wish canon had a closer all around equivalent but I'm not sure I can handle 46mp right now anyway. Looking forward to more videos and reviews.

How does the D4 fit in all this ? I know the 850 are superb but what about the 810 and D4 for portraits and random shots no sports

Very complete and accurate video. Helpful to those trying to decide on these 2 bodies. Only thing I question is why people say the D810 is not good for tracking wildlife. Sure the D850 is brilliant but the D810 does great in my opinion. Simply with the exception of birds in flight. Solution, wait for them to land 😂

I’m thinking of getting a d810 and keep my d7500 ...I love 💕 the d7500 (it’s a mini d500)

I want the extra megapixel for beautiful beach and landscapes

I know my D5300 is better, because I have it and I believe that the best camera is the one, which you have...😉

I never use a pop up flash so I won't miss it. I know a guy that uses his pop up in commander mode all the time. That is the only way I would use one or as a trigger to other strobes. It isn't a deal breaker for me.

Hi there.


I've been studying up on the D850 for the past 2-3 days now, seriously considering it. but, I'm a hobby Landscape photographer and do random Photowalks throughout the year. Would you recommend I go fully for a D850 or a D810 or D750 + 2 lenses? I'd like to stay with Nikon, and have a great quality video recording at the same time.


Appreciate the help!
