Ottawa is re-imposing some visa requirements on Mexican nationals visiting Canada, a senior government source says. While CBC Radio-Canada journalist Louis Blouin described Canada's new visa requirements for Mexican nationals as a 'half measure' that does not go as far as the policies of Stephen Harper's government that were struck down by the reigning Liberals, he says they could still create a tense diplomatic situation with Mexico.

Hopefully Mexico brings in the same rules for Canadians. A lot of Canadians are fleeing Canada due to the expense, and end up gentrify Mexico and not pay taxes

I am Mexican, living in San Miguel de Allende. The amount of Canadians moving here full time is gentrifiying our town at the biggest pase making for Mexicans VERY unaffordable to live here. ITS ABOUT TIME we ALSO ask them for visa. Plus, most of them don't work and are cheap.

This decision doesn't feel like Canada is a friend of Mexico. I've always had good opinion of Canadians until this decision and reading abusive comments. Many Canadians are living here in Mexico but now a visa should be implemented. Canadians are also gentrifying Mexico and not paying taxes. Maybe they should go back to Canada as well. Each to their own country.

Also many canadians have propeties "REAL STATE" in Mexico due the housing crisis in Canada, and they do not pay Taxes in Mexico i think that's unfair. some neighbors in Mexico city got this massive gentrification and locals have to move out.

Canada can ask for a visa to whoever they want, but Mexico should response in consequence, too many Canadians living in Mexico without paying taxes and taking advantage of the cost of living. Too sad that we are are not united as countries of the same continent.

Canada just shot itself in the foot! Do you know how many Canadians live on the Mexican coasts like Baja California and Puerto Vallarta, also Tulun!? They should have established more regularity for the Hindus and Chinese. Mexico is going to be a country with a very good economy and I don't think they will like to come and visit Canada anymore.

Needs to be made more strict for ALL foreigners coming into Canada to stay for an extended period of time, its getting out of hand. The huge problem i have is how the job market has gotten. All you see are people from India. Alot of employers are now only hiring people from out of Canada and leaving everyone else out because half their wage is paid by the government themselves like wth is that. Worry about your own country first
