Nice! I'm in the market for a spotter right now and this is exactly what I was wondering. Do you think you would still choose the 65 over the 85 with the diamondback series scopes? I don't have 4 figures to spend on hunting gear at the moment ;)

I have 65mm & 80mm
Not a lot of difference about 10% brightness Dusk & Dawn 80mm.
Angle or straight ?
I prefer straight after using angled for years.
Looking into something is easier than looking for something (my opinion).

Leica
Any of the above will do an excellent job for years.
I bought 7 crap scopes before buying my good one try not to make the same mistake.

I am close to pulling the trigger on a Vortex scope and this helped. I didn't notice any chromatic aberration in either scope in your side by side comparison. What have you experienced in your use as far as aberration goes? Thanks!

fellows great review and comparison, I just got a Athlon 65 but I am using it for night sky viewing and I need to be able to carry it on my bicycle when I am bicycle touring down in South America next year. I almost got the Vortex but I got a really great deal on the Athlon so I went with it. I appreciate the review . Cheers and thank you.

Go with the 65mm. I been running the vortex diamondback had 16x48x65 spotting scope it’s awesome. Best spotting scope for the price.
