For an added boost of flavor, roll the donuts around in powdered apple cider drink mix after frying. I made apple cider donuts like this for several years and gave them to my son's baseball team and they gobbled them all up every single time!

You should be sure to check out Clyde Cider Mill in Mystic, CT. They’re the oldest steam powered cider mill in the United States.

You can watch them make cider from wholes apples, eat cider donuts and see all of the apple wine they sell. I recommend going on a weekday because weekends are a mad house.

They look great. One of my favorite breakfasts is at a restaurant where they take fresh cider donuts and make them into french toast. It's so good...and these look like they could be made into french toast very nicely.

This is my favorite fall treat, and this recipe gives me an idea.. I bet you could follow the same process but shape them like an eclair or long john and either (after frying) fill them with apple compote or slice them like a hot dog bun and fill with baked apple slices.
