5 reasons for the 5d mark 1 TODAY

Here's a quick look at an awesome camera choice coming into the new year. The 5d mark one is nice because it's a cheap, full frame, and fully weather sealed body that one doesn't have to worry about abusing when taking it out into a brutal environment such as a cold winter day.

I love the colors this camera produces, and the ability to use a massive array of lenses with the native EF mount.

DISCLAIMER: No weather sealing in the 5d 1! It does have a strong magnesium body but they didn't introduce weather sealing until the mark 2

Higher number models, or 3rd generation 5d mk1 are the ones you want..the mirror issue has been resolved.

I have a 5d mark 1 that my father passed down to me. I was never interested in photography but now I'm wanting to get into it (I have to buy things like batteries and a charger to get the old thing back up and running). I'm glad to see that she can still put out pretty stellar looking photographs, I just wish I had a few different lens choices! I have a Canon 50mm lens and that's it :P

Yes! Great take on a great camera, good sir! I couldn't agree more about the way this camera handles crummy weather--I've had great luck with it from frigid New England winters to humid Gulf Coast summers!

I picked up a 5D in mint condition, barely used, for $250 last month. Best money I ever spent. I love this camera and consider to be irreplaceable.

Such a brilliant camera. The only reason I haven't bought this body is because the only lens brand I don't have is Canon lenses. If I had any, I would buy this camera immediately. Such a beauty. Great video once again!

I'm interested in how that 50-200mm glass performs. I bought a 5d Mk II last year and I absolutely love it, but I'm adding a 5d Classic just as soon as I have room in my budget.

there is no moisture protection at all. Confused with the second 5 / Take care of this wonderful device

Only thing I've don't like about this camera from what I heard is there is no auto ISO.

The 5DmkII is an even better option for a few hundred more.

I used to love my 5D Mk1 for the same reasons, but (a long time ago) in the middle of a wedding my mirror fell out ... and then I could not trust the model anymore.
I owned many Canon models that never failed me, but the 5D classic left me a "sour taste" in my mouth after the mirror experience, so I never used it again for paid jobs after that.
