I love the simplicity of the 5D. No auto iso; you just have to know how to use your exposure triangle. Pure photography.
Great video; thankyou Robin.

I have owned MANY different cameras over the past 20 years, and the shutter sound of my 5d Classic is truly unique. This camera has to go down in history as the single best digital camera ever created! If canon re-introduced it as a new camera today, I'd be the first in line to buy one. Thanks for posting thus video.

Simply couldn't agree more. You introduced me to Olympus MFT and I will be forever thankful for that. However I am completely enamoured with shooting my new old 5D classics. They're incredible for the reasons you note.

I believe that Canon really got everything right with the 5D Classic, it really still works and I have Leica, Fuji, Nikon cameras as well but the 5D is always the go to!

I had several cameras of several brands. I was always on a budget when studying photography... the story short, I loved the 40D, and then I had the 1D. it's been years and want to comeback to a solid camera, this is the time to buy a 5d classic❤

I also agree with you, Robin. Where the color science from this Canon camera is really beautiful and natural. Thank you for sharing your views and experiences using this camera. Big LIKE for you.

I couldn´t agree more with your review. I own two 5D Mk I bodies, that I used for event photography for a decade. Recently, I bought a 6D Mk I which has everything I miss in the 5D: faster processing speed, much better screen quality, features like wifi, GPS and auto ISO thet I need in some situations. The 6D has a broader dynamic range and a more sensitive (outstanding) central focus point and a similar picture quality to the 5D Mk I. However, the 5D produces more film-like pictures and that is because I kept both of my 5D bodies, that are a charm wih my pro "L" lenses. Great video. I enjoyed it very much. Thumbs up for sure. Greetings.

I feel that many Leica Q and Fujifilm x100v users try to get the special images that this camera outputs. that natural burst of color and organic grain that has a film like look to it. The images are so special. I have two 5d classics. One of them died, but my backup is still going strong.

Hi Robin! Now you have me wanting to buy a 5D. You brought back memories of my first DSLR, the Canon 300D.

I am absolutely in love with my 5D classic. I had the Mkii and it just wasn't the same.

I agree on this point. Although I like to use Sony cameras but still that there is some magic to canon color science. I am using Canon 5D Mark II

Yes, canon's colours are very good, but that 5D classic is truly special, even for Canon.
They tried to introduce film shooter to digital keeping the colours as faithful as possible and they never were able to get so close in the cameras that came after this.

very useful review. In fact, very interesting to know that many old cameras perform so well

Great to have discovered your channel, Robin. Your enthusiasm is contagious, but your street photography is...sublime!
Prior to a trip to Europe in early 2008, I was faced with choice between the 5D and the then-new APS-C 40D. I was favoring the 5D as a logical addition to my EOS film SLRs but panicked at last minute by the absence of Sensor Cleaning feature, especially as I often venture out with multiple lenses. I never regretted the purchase of the 40D, loved its colors and all the memories it captured. I did - finally - step up to full-frame with the 5D Mk IV, largely for its outstanding performance in low light/high ISO situations, all the while keeping the 40D as a second DSLR. More recently I added a 6D which I also love. But lately I've been hearing about the unique, more film-like, colors attributed to the original 5D. Plus, as with film, I like the more thoughtful shooting process that older technology cameras tend to impose.
Your commentary - along with the wonderful photo reels - have moved me a step further toward adding one to my "tool kit." Thank you! And, yes, I have subscribed to your channel.
