Показать описание
The name 35mm refers to the width of the filmstrip including perforations.
35mm film is used since the dawn of cinema.
A negative is exposed in camera and a positive is used to project the image on a screen.
This is called a cinematographic process.
The acquisition and projection formats can vary in different processes.
Leitz transferred the format in 1918 to photography where the filmstrip is transported horizontally, doubling the frame size.
This variant has been used later in cinema too, primarily as an acquisition format under the Brand name Vista Vision.
Optical soundtracks reduced the surface for the image and therefore the image quality.
Super35 was introduced as an acquisition only format to improve quality and versatility and uses the full width without soundtrack.
Super35 is usually shot using 4 perforation hight, but only 3 perforations are used for classic windscreen cinema.
Super 35 can be distributed with an added squeeze for anamorphic projection, or for spherical projection with large parts of the print remaining black.

And that’s where the term MOS (Minus Optical Sound) comes from.
