I'm amazed people don't know about the Haitian revolution. It's part of our history curriculum here in Jamaica.

Not to mention the Haitian soldiers who came to Savanah Georgia and helped the US fight against the British to become an independant country.

My history professor was the complete opposite, he knew everything about the history of civilization and taught it without a history book.

Don't forget Haiti's help to Simon Bolivar in shaping the map of South America. Don't forget being the 1st to recognize modern Greece's independence.

Haiti was one of the five countries to recognize Biafra (a separatist state from Nigeria).

When you really deep it, many Haitians were once inhabitants of the Bight of Biafra.

I’m confident that one day crying must come to an end. Haiti and Biafra will rise again.

The U.S got 22 states with the Louisiana purchase. The victory ran France out of North America. We won now paying for it. The movie Napoleon dropping in November on Netflix. We won't get any shine in that Movie..

Yes, the Haitian Revolution had an outsized impact on world events, but, sadly, for the Haitian people, the hopes and dreams of the formerly enslaved have yet to be realized.

“It was once said by the great Daniel O'Connell, that the history of Ireland might be traced, like a wounded man through a crowd, by the blood. The same may be said of the history of Haiti as a free state. Her liberty was born in blood, cradled in misfortune, and has lived more or less in a storm of revolutionary turbulence.”

-Frederick Douglass

That’s crazy. A professor didn’t know what the Haitian Revolution was? Insanity

It's funny, I immediately knew what you meant, but every history class or history video I've watched chalks Napoleon's selling of Louisiana solely to him losing wars in Europe.

It's crazy I never connected the dots until I saw this title. Great video.

My professor in school knew everything about the Haitian revolution and even all history within the americas he even made a class the school approved. A lot of history professors who are real and passionate about history are now teaching history around north central and South America from self studies. But the Haitian revolution isn’t taught in schools as it doesn’t benefit white people. The history they tend to focus on is the ones that uplift the white ancestors of the Europeans. That’s what most schools push.

From my knowledge of the Haitian revolution I know everything about it as I learn from my dad and uncle. Also the Haitian revolution isn’t the end all be all of Haitian history. There’s the kingdom of Haiti which most schools will not teach as it was and til this day the most successful government and time of the americas. Also let’s not forget the creation of nazism and anti white literature which Haitians was on the front line fighting against. As well as the pan african conferences and aiding in war to help Ethiopia 🇪🇹. Haitian history in most Eurocentric school systems can’t be taught cause it counter productive to the white supremist agenda. But yeah a Haitian who knows their history don’t rock with 🇭🇹 they rock with ⬛️🟥

Thank you for presenting this video about the Haitian Revolution and its impact on American society. It is rarely talked about and definitely not taught in many schools in the US. States like Florida andbTexas are now forbidding histiory of the Haitian Revolution from being taught in their schools. Books about true history of slavery and minority cultures are being removed from some schools and libraries. 😢
