Riding rollers - key skills to master

If you're stuck at home (or even if you aren't) here are some fun roller skills that will improve pedalling technique, balance, confidence and leg speed. Spend some time mastering how to ride rollers and how to bunnyhop on rollers, ride one-legged, no-handed, Rev Out and more techniques.

I have the following sponsors and my videos contain products given to me by them.

That is impressive, been about 20 years for me since I have rode rollers. Now 62 with a fake right knee, turbo trainer just fine!! Thank you for the video

I suggest doing this in a doorway with the elbows at the doorjamb. This way the elbows will hit the doorjamb and you can use a gentle elbow push to recenter on the rollers. Also when starting have one pedal in the 2:00 (right) or 10:00 (left) postion. Then pedal with down force to get started.

some tips: to have more load on rolers/bike: change rubber belt with old inner tube without valve, 27 inch, make wheels just for rolers- i used duct tape to connect spokes, in shape of fan (left and right), then you get air circulation and you cool down easier

OMG, you make it look so easy, and talking without losing your breath and during some crazy difficult stunts, so impressive.

What a fun video to watch! Made me laugh at how much enthusiasm and excitement you can bring to riding rollers indoors!

I love my rollers... they really make you a better partner in group rides. I do the same drills as you did but I look no where near as smooth as Juliet. One-legged drills BURN!!!

ON my rollers as I trained in the winter for the 1980 and 84 Olympics the old clip peddles with shoe cleats was a trick. But it builds great core and upper body small muscles. Great Job. I a few times Rhode my rollers outside a Market for Charity on my rollers for 5 hours. If people dropped a Donation of $5.00, I would. Sprint at 55MPH for two minutes straight. HAHA good bunny hops at the end.

She’s the best cyclist I’ve ever seen on rollers in my life and I’ve been riding a bike for 30 years👍💪💪

I managed no hands when I was 35 years younger to try and stop the boredom. What used to scare me was the thought of coming off the side when spinning in top gear. Had visions of going through the garage wall.

I'll have to give it a go with my cleats but with regular shoes, I can fairly comfortably mount and dismount in a "medium tall gear" by simply having my dominant leg (left) at about 1 o'clock on its pedal whilst the other foot is standing on the frame, then I simply stand up, my weight gets the wheels spinning, and away I go. The next trick I want to master with my rollers is cycling without my left knee hurting...Cheers!

Just FYI, if you have the rollers up against the wall, use the wall to get up and get going. I have mine in the garage and use a tall tool chest to stabilize myself while getting going (additionally, it makes a good place to have the remote for the tv). Also, just like riding in a bunch, you can use the wall to practice using your elbow/forearms against the wall just like you do to keep someone from coming into you. It teaches you to just tap and not to lean too much, because you can come off (if you lean into another rider on the road you can cause an accident within the bunch).

3:00 I did that on my rollers, and I ripped through the space time continuum, and it left a massive hole on the wall.

Trying to buy some rollers via EBay for these lockdown times. Your videos make me a little less fearful, I'll give it a go! I'll report back any progress I make. Cheers, stay safe you & yours.

Your roller videos are great fun. I have sent one to my mate who is quite good at Triathlons etc and you sound a bit like her ( Lynn Clay?). I`ve sent her the one of you outside.

I think Dave should try it next 😀
And very entertaining ( even if I have no rollers)
