Best tech job out there. Dude has to maintain 6 guitars and couple Amps meanwhile the guy who handles the Edge’s rig is basically managing a guitar center on wheels

Saw Eric at MSG few years ago. He, Gary Clark Jr and Jimmy Vaughn. One of the most “real” shows ever. They all got up on stage, lights were on and they’re adjusting their own gear, you could hear the chatting and then they just start, and proceed blew the doors off with hours of straight blues and jamming. No pyrotechnics or special effects.one of the best shows ever, and also saw the Cream reunion tour.

I love Eric Clapton’s music and performances, a strat, hardly no pedals, sometimes a wah pedal, and straight into an amp, old school sounding great. Doyle Bramhall II once said Eric told him he didn’t need or like all of those pedals he was using and said laughing, if one pedal goes out while on tour he has to quit using all of them while playing guitar with him.

I saw him play that guitar live in concert a couple of weeks ago. It's the only electric he played all night. Amazing playing, of course, and still sounds fantastic in his singing in his mid-70's.

I mostly play a squire vintage modified before my USA strat. Sometimes less is more. At end of day it's all wood with strings. Making me express something you feel is the most important thing.

I saw EC twice during the early 90s at the Royal Albert Hall, London. At the second show, he opened with I Shot the Sheriff and broke his top E string during his solo. No running side stage to his tech for a spare guitar, no histrionics, Clapton just played through the whole solo on five strings and ended the song to a standing ovation. No fuss, just a real professional. Brilliant. And yes, I know he has blocked off his bridge so that his guitar stays in tune!!!

Slowhand is my fave..love a lot of guitar masters, but Eric is another level. Finally got to see him live, blew me away and it just seemed effortless. He had the biggest speakers ever brought to NZ.

I have owned many Fender Stratocasters over the years, my Eric Clapton Stratocaster is by far the greatest Guitar I have ever owned and played, I had a 100 watt Marshall Stack - Amazing sound, now have a 1965 Fender Deluxe Reverb .

I was about 14 rows away in Nashville and man he is still as awesome as ever. He sounded awesome and man I would have killed to see him during the 335 days.

There's a video of EVH with the same setup, not too many guitars and even explaining to the interviewer that if he's lucky he only needs 1.

It's great having an EC Strat built by Todd Krause of Fender Custom Shop, and also great meeting and having dinner with Todd, and getting your Strat autographed by him.

This what makes Clapton a fantastic artist.. Its in his playing, in his singing.. his feel and knowlegde of music. Simple set up, hardly any pedals, vintage amp... Thats what makes him God

I've got a lace sensor and a noiseless EC strat. And I never use a pedal. These guitars are awesome! Love you, EC🎸🎸🎸

Just goes to show you that tone is in simplicity (and the fingers). Although Clapton’s age may have slowed him down a bit, I feel like it’s given him more time to work on the ability of a single note and what it means. Always reinventing his style but still obviously 100% Clapton. To quote Joe Walsh “Take a guitar, plug it in, turn your amp up all the way, and that’s rock and roll.” ✌️ ❤️

Now imagine this episode during his 1994-1995 'From the Cradle' era shows!

Love the simplicity of this episode.

I think JB was about to say this, but I seem to recall Clapton used to be on the in-between bridge & middle position for solos a lot... I guess times have changed.

He toured with only brownie in his Derek Dominoes days, stating the tour success depended on the guitars bullet proof build. Fixing it, refining it as the tours went on. Said that in the guitar center interview.
