Homeowners insurance has six very important coverages contained within it. Today I am going to talk to you about a coverage called “Medical Payments to Others.” This falls under the liability section of the policy. Earlier I discussed that liability pays other people in the event that you are legally responsible for something that you've either done to them or damaged their property. Medical expense coverage will take care of the medical related bills for someone who has been injured simply because you were involved. It’s often times that people will fall on a street, trip over your sidewalk, and break their glasses. It’s the medical payments coverage that is going to step in and take care of their glasses. The idea is that it is a goodwill offering that’s available to you to make the person who fell whole again, so that they do not need to sue you.
