I can’t seem to find a digital piano that imitates real piano action or better yet has real piano action. I’d love a tour of your creation there. Something like that would be so great to have!

I had a break of 40 years from my Grade 5. Now doing Grade 7 in December. I was looking through some of my old books and there were so many pieces I used to enjoy playing that I'd forgotten about. Was quite nostalgic playing them again.

I find that when I come back to a piece that I’m much more relaxed and can play the piece faster and clearer. I generally take one day a week to just play and work on a older piece. It seems to be much better than when I was working on it daily. This also gives me a break from the pieces that I’m currently working on.

So funny that you would play moonlight sonata 1 as your example because that is exactly what I like to finish my practice with most days. It feels and sounds amazing and there is always something to improve.

I used to spend a lot of time working out fingering for pieces but then after not playing them for a while had forgotten it and then had to work it out again. So then I started adding my fingering and performance suggestions to a copy of the score with a photo editing program. This way I always have it and can share my suggestions with others. We see a lot of videos of performances but how many pianists actually document their fingerings for others to see? Sure everyone's hands are different but there are some suggestions that can be helpful for many people.

Your enthusiasm is amazing. How do you stay so passionate and enthusiastic . Maybe you can make a video about that 😀 .. No, really :)

Normally when I master a piece or song I move on to the next challenge. When I want to play it again after a couple of days I can’t do it anymore and have to start learning it all over again. So I thought, I will do that differently now. After I master a song I will play it every day, to keep it fresh in the mind. But to my surprise that doesn’t work either. To explain this better to you. I don’t have a teacher and I’m learning from piano apps. When I master a song with 3 stars I move on to the next song. But the thing is, apparently I don’t master a song at all after 3 stars. ‘Cause as soon I don’t practice that song anymore and I play it only one time a day in the understanding I mastered that song, I mess it up. So my question to you is when do you really master a song and know it by heart?

Hello Mr. Robert, thank you for all your work and informative videos. I really appreciate them. I am a self taught pianist and have been playing the piano for 2 years and a half now. I noticed decent progress on my own and have been studying music theory and harmony as well. When do you think is the right time to seek professional help when it comes to piano playing?

Thank you!

I like to destroy the piece I have learned just for the fun of it. Jazz version of Satie? Oh yeah!!!
