Skaya finally got to swim in the big pool! And wow, did she ever scream and freak out! I guess that’s to be expected of a husky, though.
As we close in on summer, I thought it was time Skaya finally got a proper opportunity to swim! No, not in a little wading pool – but in a real, big pool! Skaya managed to swim once on her own, but has been too scared to do it since. I always have to hold her in my arms if she wants to go in the pool.
But since Skaya went swimming in the ocean a few weeks back, I was hoping she would be a little more comfortable with swimming in the pool… She doesn’t feel comfortable if she can’t feel the bottom with her paws, so she tends to only want to stay on the steps of the pool. But with a bit of coaxing and encouragement, Skaya finally got into the pool all by herself! I think she may have doggy paddled her way into becoming a pro swimmer!
Do you think Skaya is now an official “water dog”? Or is she still a snow dog at heart? (Or maybe… both?)
