thank you SO much much. I'm an upcoming freshman, and we have a scrimmage game this week. I've never considered myself a great setter, as I usually pass and hit. The varsity volleyball coach informed me that I will move up to varsity and set for them this year, and yesterday at practice I used these tips. she said "Lilly, your sets have gotten so much better in the past three days. what are you doing?" thank you so much for these videos!

2. Right foot in front
3. Bend knees, athletic stance
4. Pre-shape ball with hands at waist
5. Flex wrists back
6. Setting power from legs elbows and wrists
7. Thumbs facing each other ~2inches apart
8. Receive ball 2 inches away from hairline
9. Triangle hands to square
10. Set through the ball not to the sides
11. Open, square, 2+2, Triangle --> Square
12. Finish with hands 45 degrees from hairline. More if closer, less if further

My middle school team just took the last W in our schools district with only two losses against other schools. This puts us at 3rd ranking approving us for play offs! I noticed my sets could be better and after re-watching this video after a few months I realized I have been doing it all wrong😂 This is a game changer (literally) and I know this will help us out in play offs, thanks :)

I'm a freshmen and have never played before. Today was the first day of a camp sort of thing where highschoolers help the younger ones. The varsity coach who has lead our team to win 4 state championships was impressed by my raw skill. However I happen to suck at setting and this is helping me improve. Thanks.

I’m on division 3 in my middle school volleyball team because it depends mostly on attendance and I wanna move up to division 1 or 2 to be a great setter! I’m coming for that position!!

I'm watching this in 2021 since Im teaching my class Setting. This video keeps it simple and it actually makes me laugh seeing him demonstrate and do the lil jumps. This video was fun and educational lol

thank you so much coach. I’ve recently been interested in volleyball and didn’t know how to practice at home. I’ve recently found your channel and I’ve never been happier to find a channel like yours😊

I may be playing varsity my freshman year, as I've gotten several of my adult friends talking to me about the varsity coach putting interest in me as a setter. Playing for club, I'm always in, and I always felt as if my setting was a tad bit inconsistent. I was hoping to find something that would help with that as I'm going into highschool. This has helped a lot though, so thank you

Also me: time to join the volleyball team/club on a whim because I binged all of haikyuu a few months ago
Also me again: watching a bunch of volleyball videos so I don’t look like a complete idiot

Thank you so much for this video! Setting is the thing I've been struggling with this whole season and this video really makes things clearer! Thanks!

I have two questions;
1. Should my hands be facing outwards or upwards when making the square?
2. Do I need to hop when setting? Or is that to prepare us for the jump set?

If that's the case then my dad would be setting backwards all the the time
