I’ve had my intergas boiler for nearly 11 years, aside from a motherboard and a pump, my boiler has given perfect service. The monobloc construction of the heat exchanger is very elegant and was the main reason I chose it. Brilliant!

Great questions. We should also ask intergas why they haven't developed a hybrid system where if the heat pump happens to fail, the gas boiler will continue to operate on its own. At the moment, if the heat pump fails, the gas boiler shuts down too, taking out the ultimate advantage of hybrid systems, where one part of the system can take over if the other part fails. Daikin uses intergas boilers in their hybrid system and managed to ensure the gas boiler continues to work in the event the heat pump fails. So if Daikin can do it, why can't intergas?

Are we going back in time here, cylinders and immersion heaters apart from the fact that many many properties have nowhere to fit a cylinder as i remember immersion heaters are expensive to run, you've got to wonder what's really going on these days.

Most professional installers (ones who actually know how to install heatpump system) seems to say no to buffer or remove them afterwards

then there is "I just install a boiler/heatpump and follow technical installation manual" do install them

Now's my What's the payback time on a hybrid system ?

At three minutes he talks of a buffer to assist defrost cycle, I don't have a buffer but a volumizer fitted to my heat pump to assist with defrost cycle.

Using Glycol decreases the specific heat capacity of the water carrying heat to emitters. So it's a risk assessment of losing electricity supply and the temperature of the fluid in the system dropping to Below 3C against a permanent hit to system efficiency using glycol.
