Mean while in minecraft...

Could Planet Earth actually exist?
It's round, Umm.. what is a round?

You could theoretically have an artificial cubic planet of the size described. The inside of the planet could just be a skeletal support structure, rather than a solid mass, so as to avoid the problem of having so much gravity that it causes the planet to collapse in on itself.

The minecraft world is actually (most likely) a sphere shape, just made with cubes

In a universe where who knows what's possible.

Like punching a perfect 1m cube out of a tree, causing it to float...

To everyone who has commented about the possibility of a hollow planet (based on the void you hit beneath bedrock) and the "flat plane in space" idea, we thought about these possibilities when doing this episode… we found them to be so far-fetched and unsciencey (yes, even more far-fetched than a cubic planet) that we wouldn't have been able to to find any useful scientific lessons there.

That's why we went with the cube planet! But I hope everyone keeps discussing these other options in the comments! :)

The mass calculation for the Minecraft world is *definitely* wrong - Minecraft only has blocks between levels 0 and 128 (give or take depending on the mods installed). If you manage to tunnel under the bedrock (which you can, very carefully), you'll fall into a void. The Minecraft world *must be hollow*.

70 Million copies sold... 100 Million players.. Yep. Thats logic.

How did you get that Minecraft planet is cubic? It's flat (only ~256 blocks deep)

Well.. what if the world is a sphere, but everythibng in it is.... cubic?

The Minecraft world is round, matpat has proved this as the highest you can jump anywhere is one block (1 meter if converted) meaning that you have a round world, if you go into creative mode, you’ll see a somewhat curve, if the world were a square, you would see the end of edge of the world from the middle of one of the 6 sides,

planet minecraft exist.

Okay, it's a forum and not a planet, but it exists nonetheless.

One thing I learned about Minecraft: never say the S-word in Minecraft. You'll break Minecraft physics. (Saying the C-word, circle, is fine.)

That, and gravity is really lazy on almost all blocks and redstone is weird.
