This has been my favorite knot since i was a kid. I tie it the same way and had to reverse engineer it because all my books taught it in a different way where you couldn't choose the size of the loop or do it around an object. Very strong but maybe the strongest binding knot ive ever known. If you put enough weight on it it basically becomes permenant.

That is basically a bowline.

The cinching first loop is closed end instead of open end and the working end is dressed oddly but doesnt change how it goes:

Make a loop (e loop), working end goes up the rabbit hole around the tree and back down into rabbit hole.

Also the e loop is backwards from traditional bowline.

Thanks Keep it coming a new way to to the Bowline was a volunteer many moons ago in NZ & we’re taught to tie with one hand & remember it FONDLY as it was considered a Rescue knot if you’re with someone at the bottom of S steep slope 💯🙏🏽👍🏽😊

In what way is this knot, "better"??

Give the double dragon loop a try, it’s pretty similar to the perfection loop, but easier to untie

I hate the tag end going up into the loop way

isnt the bowline important because it lets go automatically when its not under a load?

Not sure about "better" but definitely comparable.

That will never untie after being under load …. Ther reason we tie the way we do is to save our very expensive ropes … I use rope every day as a tree rigging for large amounts of weight use a proper bowline knot otherwise u will be cutting out the loop
