I recently bought a Ely Mello Tone Toy Piano that has a huge manufacturing defect that makes it pretty much impossible to play. I disassemble it and then try to figure out a way to actually learn to play something on it.

I love that piano. Now go find a band full of wonky instruments (and people to play them) and make a "slightly off" symphony.
That would be truly amazing!

Normal pianists: “man this thing is wonky, I could never play on this”

Blonde kid: roasts the piano like a middle school bully

I’M SO SORRY BUT THE CHILD LOOKED SO DISTRESSED WHEN HE SAID “WHAT THE HECK IS THIS” I STARTED LAUGHING

I love how they all had almost the same reaction but at varying levels of anger

And so, unknowingly, aSongScout lifted the curse of the little girl's soul that was trapped within the tiny piano, by fixing and creating a song on it.

We are all talking about the kid pissed by the piano's existence, but take a minute to appreciate the spontaneous facial expression of his younger sister! It's great hahaha!

Pianists: “I fear no man... but that thing...”
*points to defective toy piano*
Pianists: *”it scares me...”*

Messed up toy piano: exists
Blonde kid: and I took that personally.

Here's my theory: the piano was repaired by "someone" in the past who had no idea about pianos. The unusual key config was caused because they did not re-assemble it correctly after the repair. If you take the first C-E and put it on the very left of the keyboard, shifting the remaining keys (F-B) to the right, everything makes sense again. And the two different looking rods also point to a botched repair... those probably bent or broke in the past and they just tried to fit some other rods they had available, not taking into account that different material or thickness might not produce the desired notes.

Imagine a kid getting a piano like this and learning to play with it for years and just being utterly confused when they find a normal piano

“WHAT IS THIS GARBAGE! WHO MADE THIS?”

has the same energy as

“WHEN WILL YOU LEARN? WHEN WILL YOU LEARN, THAT YOUR ACTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES?!”

Imagine learning to play this, as a kid, thinking it's normal. Then seeing your first other piano. 'Can I play it?' Oh, the devastation.

This piano honestly sounds like the notes are shepherd tones (a sound that sounds like it's going up continuously forever)

Edit: Google this if you have no idea what shepherd tones are - It's quite difficult to explain.

The people who made that piano be like:
*"How to count from 1 to 10:*
*1 2 3 4 5 2 3 4 5 10"*

This looks and sounds like a toy piano from a horror movie.

I think my grandpa has one of these pianos! I remember playing on a small piano that sounded terrible and my older brother would spend way to long trying to play some basic songs like Mary had a little lamb, also it sounded EXACTLY like the one in the video lmao
