The whisky bar is selling 'Ya dong' (ยาดอง) which literally translates to 'pickled medicine'. It is homemade moonshine whisky. The sellers often use empty bottles of branded Thai whisky or empty plastic bottles of coke to store the Ya dong in. They also use smaller empty bottles of energy drinks like Carabao and M150. There are various flavors of Ya dong but the 2 most popular are เสือ 'Sua' meaning 'tiger' and นารี 'Naree' meaning 'girl' or 'lady'. Naree is the sweeter of the two. Most bars offer shots at either 10 or 20 baht. The bottle prices are usually 25 baht of an energy drink sized bottle, 50 or 60 baht for an empty coke bottle (375ml) and 100 baht for an empty full bottle of whisky size. Ya dong is not as strong as normal whisky, usually being around 27% in alcohol content. Mixers are not used but Thai people will drink a lot of plain water between shots.
Ya dong bars or 'shops' can be found all over Bangkok but are especially present outside of the center in more suburban local areas of the city. They can be great places to practice your Thai as the locals will be very curious to see a foreigner there and will almost certainly act towards you in a very friendly manner. Being local bars, it is rare to find someone drinking there who speaks more than a couple of words of English. Thais sometimes actually use the English word when saying 'Cheers' but the 'S' sound is dropped, and they will often say it twice 'Cheer Cheer! ( เชียร์ๆ). However, at a Ya dong bar you are more likely to hear 'ชนเเก้ว' ('chon gaew') which literally translates as 'crash glass'

- กระเทียมเจียว ( Kra-Tiam-Jiew ) = Fried garlic mix with oil ( what was seasoned your wonton bowl )
- โค้กวุ้น ( Coke-Woon, ) = The shaking drink inside the ice bucket to make them more icy and a little frozen. Sometimes they did it with beer and call เบียร์วุ้น ( Beer-Woon ) many people love it. ps. Woon=Gelatin, Jelly.

Ken, that’s basically moonshine. As for the green drink, he is doing it wrong. What normally happens is the shaking or turning of the bottles is to cool the drink and when he opens it, it’s just become like slurpee
