I buy retro games off the second hand market and nintendo doesn't make any money from that. Why should they care if I emulated them instead?

I'm mean duh, it's their CURRENT console which is still on the market. Why would they allow it from a business perspective? They aren't running a charity here. Dreamcast is the best example of what happens when you let that kind of thing go rampant on a current system.

Past systems I agree should be let alone - it doesn't harm anybody that someone plays a Gamecube game. But do you really think that if there was a PS5 emulator right now, Sony would let it slide? Let's be real here

I will say this again, when you emulate a console hardware that is currently still on the market and still selling well, you take a high risk of attracting the manufacturer's attention. So my question is WHY do you even try to release an emulator for a console that is still available for sale ? Seriously your just running after trouble. And don't get me wrong, I don't like nintendo's policies, I think Nintendo is the worse of all when it comes to greed but those reverse engineer hackers should put their effort into past system consoles instead. As far as i know, I don't see nintendo going after Ares, Snes9X, or Nestopia or even Dolphin. So sorry, but if you make a software that can run current gen games you will undoubtly be targeted for copyright infringement sooner or later. And for those who disagree, just make an emulator for PS5 and see if Sony let it pass by, ...good luck !

I will say this again current systems should not be emulated and if the next system is backwards compatible they should not be emulated. If the games are no longer available and no money is going to the companies that made them then who care and will be ok to emulate!

I think the better question is how has nintendo not narrowed down who is dumping and distributing every game weeks before launch? I'm pretty sure every single big release has been found online way before release date

I've heard murmurs that the new zelda ran on ryujinx before release, but I can't say if it was catered for like yuzu did for totk.

Maybe if some would have left the Emulation of Nintendo Switch games alone we wouldn’t be going through this.

The problem is people emulating modern day video games, what's the point of people making games if you won't pay for it? that's the reason why THese emulators are getting shutdown.
Stop being fool and just buy the actual hardware the game is made for.
If it runs too bad for ur liking stop playing it it's just that simple.
