I wear a tie almost daily. There are 3 different knots I use. By far, my favorite is the Shelby knot. Perfect knot every time. I've used over 20 years.

Im 24 and tied a tie maybe only 3 times before. I got it stunningly perfect on the first try! This method is fantastic! Thank you

I recently stumbled upon this video and can only recommend it for tall people. I am a bit over 2 meters and this is the only knot which looks good and where the small part of the tie stays long enough to fit into the little holder.

Wish I had already found this gem 10 years ago. Big thumbs up!

Ive been wearing ties for 103 years.. ok, more like 35 years.. youstart with the little. Ive always started with the big. And, you are correct in saying the dimple has to be addressed if you want it. And, i do. You just saved me a lot of frustrating AM's.

Thanks! Was using full Windsor because it was symmetrical. But will switch to this one as it is not as big and as you say, "The dimple is automatic". Notice this was made 8 years ago. Hope this post finds you in good health.

This is the knot my father taught me growing up. I never knew what it was called until now. Not sure how this showed up in my YT feed, but I'm glad it did!

Thanks, Don. I've tied the Shelby Knot since about 1989. It's the only knot I ever use. But just like we see at the 1:40 mark, on about 80% of my first tries, the little end's length is too long, and requires additional attempts to get both lengths right. Because there is so little tie length being used in the knot itself, I typically have to get the ends nearly aligned. But it's all worth it, because it is a great looking knot, and one that is perfectly symmetrical without being huge.

Thank you! As a big dude who likes a symmetrical tie knot this uses so much less length than the half Windsor I often used.

Was just able to tie a tie by myself for the first time in my life thanks to this video.

Great little video from Don Shelby, the man behind the knot, and a terrific record for the archives of cravatology. At least this piece of tie history won't be relegated to theory or legend.

I was wearing full Windsor half Windsors, but since I’ve learned about the Shelby knot, it had become my favorite knot to wear.. thanks for the video and the information.

I’ve watched about 9 tie videos this morning and this is the first one I was able to follow along with and land in on the other side with a completed knot

Thank you so much for posting this. It will be the only tie video I use from here on

Been watching videos for hours screwing up every knot I've tried. Do this one, one time and nailed it.

I remember Don Shelby on WCCO-TV. I still have the newspaper article describing the Shelby knot.

Don Shelby is a legend. This was so easy, got it on my first try after 20 minutes of double windsor videos confusing me. Thank you!

My dad was always looking for ways to tie a tie. I think he found this one late in life & never went back. Classy & easy looks great!
